Need Third Gen Info

I'm in the market for a 89-92 Z28 convertible. I found an 88 for a fair price. Are there any major differences or flaws in an 88 versus the 89 up models? I know the lower skirts are a little different and the TBI versus TPI. Are parts interchangeable through the different years? I'm a first gen guy and not real familiar with the third gens. Any input is greatly appreciated.

87-88 verts were built by ASC, 89-92 were factory build so many parts are specific to year range. 87-88 were also manual opening tops. not sure about 89+.

I have a 92 Vert and it was also build by asc. When I bought it new it came with a owners and instructions for the top from asc. All third gens were manual tops. The only difference is when they moved the swicth for the tonneau cover from the center consonle to the side of tonneau cover.

oh ok, i wasnt really sure, people say all things about the verts. i only had 2 88s

Yeah asc was contracted by GM for the third gen verts. ASC started in 1987 model year making verts for GM late that year.

When you say switch, is that to release the tonneau cover?

Are the rear shoulder belts from 89 up adaptable to 88?
