New Hood Appearence

Im in the market for an SS hood for my 94. I found this one on ebay for a reasonable price but something about it does not look right, seems to "boxy" of a scoop. The opening is much more squared off than the original. Yes i understand this is a remake and maybe i have been looking at it to much but i wanted to get your opinion and maybe some other sources for this hood if u know any

yea it looks kinda boxy not bad though

yea i mean it looks good, especially on the red maro they have pictured but it is diff..ok i thought it was just me. But i think i like it more only because the 93-97's have a much more "edgier" design with hard lines around the headlights and all as compared to the 98+ more bubbly lines.

probably

Be wary of Ebay hoods. Some have ridiculous fitment issues. I'd stick to some of the major companies like SLP, ASCD, VFN, or Harwood.

It does look a little strange, theres a few variations of the SS hood for LT1 cars, it just varies between brand.

-not a fan of the harwood version
-VFN is just too tall of a scoop for me (3") (couldnt get a direct link to their hood but its in their gallery)
-ASCD is better and similar to the ebay one i posted above. Your absolutely right though in that yea the guaranty fitment but are they gona make me jump through hoops for them to honor that statement if it does not fit.

im lookin at the same one from here, http://fasttoys.net/shop/product_inf...oducts_id=1418

theres 2 versions for 93-97 cars, the V1 is an SS hood correct for 96-97, the V2 has the scoop like the 98-02 SS's

i was wondering why this new "trufiber" hood is much cheaper then the regular fiberglass ss hoods

marrow - that is the same exact picture from the ebay seller and the V1 is selling for $337.50 / V2 for $375 - $150 shipped.

little cheaper - the more i look at it the more i like it.

i'd go for V2 if i was lookin for one

usp55 01-22-2008 01:00 AM

whats the difference though. They look pretty much the same...

Knipps 01-22-2008 01:01 AM

the v1 is the lt1 style ss hood while v2 is the ls1 style
the differences are subtle but there are some

Theres also RK Sport, they have the "Competition" SS hood which is slightly wider then the V1 & V2.

the competition one doesnt look that much wider.
They make this hood , fiberglass but with a carbon fiber scoop - might be a nice touch on my black car. Woldnt notice it unless you really looked at it.
