how to Eliminate animal Pee smell in my third gen?

I have no carpet in there, the only thing is my driver seat, and the seat doesnt smell like pee. but i think something was possibly laying in there with animal pee on it and was removed prior to me picking up the car. Airing it out for a few days didnt help. i didnt see any mouse nests or any other kind of nests. should i just dump lots of baking soda in there? im serious about this one

Febreeze!

Seriously....if something was in there, it prolly has permeated every porous material in the car, so spray everything down and let it air out some more.

Pick up a bottle of Automotive Febreeze. It is NOT a cover up, but it does eliminate the CAUSE of the oder. You may also have mold growing inside of the car due to the dampness of this weather and that can cause a smell. Just soak all the fabric in the car(seat/headliner/door panels), and keep it closed up for a day. It should work. You can get this stuff at Pep Boys.

If that doesn't help I'm sure a pet store will have something that will work..

sweetbmxrider 02-09-2008 10:12 PM

i think GM actually makes an odor eliminator. it might not work on animal piss though. worth a look.

Ian 02-09-2008 11:10 PM

if that doesnt work, you might have to take thedash out to see if there is anything behind there.

Figures, can't even clean your car without breaking something.

If you still can't get it out, there are stuff at the petstores that are for carpet stains. One is called "Natures Miracles" and I can't remember the competator's brand name.

My '69 had a NASTY mildew smell when I bought it- I threw a couple of the cans of "Odor Eliminator" (the orange things) from Home Depot in there and it seemed to work pretty well.

Is the headliner still in the car?

84HOtransam 02-10-2008 10:54 AM

I had a terrible odor in my T/A when i started driving it..tried everything...one day i went to fix the headliner and noticed holes in it..once i took it further apart i found a dead mouse..i proceeded to pull the whole interior apart..found about 5 or 6 more dead mice in total.. one inside the sail panel speaker, one inside the dash, headliner, under rear seat with about 3 lbs of bird seed, two in the trunk..one near the light in the trunk..looked like he ate the wires..after i replaced the headliner and cleaned the birdseed out the car smelled new again..

We had a lady bring a car in for a noise when the heater fan was on. When we took the fan out there was a little mouse in the fan cage. The mouse got in and could not get out. I pictured this little mouse running for his life on a wheel, like a gerbil, until he just couldn't run no more.

that is hilarious and wrong in more ways than one:rofl:

98tadriver 02-10-2008 01:16 PM

LMAO at the mouse stories! i found a few mouse droppings in the car. any kind of interior piece that i dont need is out of the car too including headliner lol. i have the rear speakers to pull out, and ill pull the plastic off of my doors to see if anything is in there. next step will be to look in the dash assembly/heater core/fan area

I'll find out the name of the stuff tomorrow but there's a product body shops use and furniture stores use after a fire...it's basically a bomb you set off in the car that eliminates odor, for the life of me I can't remember the name(which is bad since I should know it). Set that baby off in the car with it all closed up, should work. I'll post up tomorrow what it is.

Ron, I couldn't get the exact name of the stuff the shop's use since they're dumbass, lol. Try giving Servpro a call and ask them. http://www.servpro.com/

There's also a machine called Ozone that works well, google it, you might be able to find a place that rents them to the general public, to buy them is expensive($400 or so).

I hope that helps man.

camaro2you 02-13-2008 12:14 PM

Could be something lurking in the dash vents could always pop the plugs and give the floor pans a good scrub.

deadtrend1 02-13-2008 07:02 PM

the use of human pee could maybe over power the smell of the animal pee. j/k

Carpet may have gotten wet and started to stink. Mine did when water got in so i pulled the whole interor and let it dry in the sun for two days and shampooed it.
