Tax Time. What to use?

nothing special. Don't own anything . One job all year. Savings account info I got from ING direct. So, 1 w2 and the interest from my savings account.

State and Federal. Whats the cheapest yet reliable and idiot proof? I think last year I used H&R block online.

Tru2Chevy 02-11-2008 06:32 PM

I usually buy the full version of TaxCut (Federal, State, and E-File), but this year I'm using my parent's accountant because of the new wife and baby. I'm hoping he'll find me more money....

TurboTax online is free, I wasn't able to find a free NJ e-file, though.

sweetbmxrider 02-11-2008 07:54 PM

my family has an accountant for the business so i get them done free. i never attempted to do my own but i may have to look into it cuz taxslayer does sound pretty freakin sweet to me!

deadtrend1 02-11-2008 07:54 PM

ok .. federal is done ... woooot! More then I expected comming back to me. Next is state.

Jersey_TA 02-11-2008 07:59 PM

Turbo tax FTW = Free

I already got my money back 8)

deadtrend1 02-11-2008 08:00 PM

yea .. i used free turbo tax. They want 24.99 to file state. I know theres a cheaper site elsewhere for that.

SteveR 02-11-2008 08:20 PM

Ian 02-11-2008 08:55 PM

I think just for a child born you get $100 automatically 8-) I've done mine once before but its a little more involved because my parents declare me on their return so their accountant does mine for free. I'm also still taking tax, so I'm still learning this stuff. Next year by this time I'll already have graduated with a BS in Accounting, so I'll know more about it then I'll want to lol
