note: guys, this show is amazing, if you've never been. usually a group of firebirds/camaros all park together. last year, there were a bunch of rock-crawlers all jammed in together, parked up on each other's wheels. there are vendors, stuff to eat and drink and, of course, souvenir t-shirts and other stuff to buy. come out and support the DRWO fund, it's for a good cause. see you there! --jim

The one main problem with this show, is that the trophies(over 30)are given out by the sponsors and it is what they like(of course). This means that if your car is mostly stock appearing, or is newer('80s-90's-2000+)your probably not going to receive anything. I have been there(along with T/A Dan)for a couple of shows, and noticed that unless you have a wild paint job, flames shooting out your exhaust or a '50's-'60's modified custom, you will come home empty handed. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of gear heads around, but in the area we occupied('Birds & Camaros)hardly anybody came by to talk shop or comment on your ride, and not one of the FBodys took home a trophy. Just my :2cents:

all car shows are subjective to the opinions of those that run them. i am not a professional trophy-seeker, so i don't care who wins. for me, it's more about supporting a great cause and to bench race with people i normally would not have an opportunity to talk with. it's a yearly tradition for me since 2003, when i first attended and 2004 when i had a car to show.

sorry about your sour grapes, ed, but IMO it's a great show, supporting a great cause and it's the earliest i bring out my baby for the diaper wiping season.

I am 99% sure I will be there. As long as the car is back together that is.

The deal on the trophies is this. If you buy a trophy, then you decide who gets it. There isn't any real judging per say unless the trophy buyer decides to do that. If I donate the $150 to NBPD for a trophy then I decide who gets it.

It's been a few years, but it use to be trophy - $150, Plaque - $75.

So the odds you getting a trophy are slim. What the old CJCFO club did was ask for members and local vendor/car dealers we dealt with to chip in for us, and we ended up with two trophies and did best Firebird and best Camaro.

So maybe we get the memebers to throw in a few bucks and we get tropies for us?

The bottom line of this show is worth going to because it's a good cause. I know a few years ago an officer died and I beleive the family received nearly $10,000 from the fund.

I am hoping I can make it this year. I have wanted to go for the last few years, and have always had something come up last minute. I'm sticking it on my calendar and hoping for the best.

Plus, it's just 15 minutes from work, which starts at 4....pretty good timing :)

SHOTGUN!!!!

bad64chevelle 02-25-2008 07:56 PM

you got it Ian...just gotta pray the car is ready.

Pampered-Z 02-27-2008 07:31 AM

If my car is back together and I can find a place to leave it for the week I'll come down. I normally leave the car and trailer at a friends house but right now his driveway is full?

No way I could leave it parked by my apartment, it's be stripped or gone by monrning!

bad64chevelle 02-27-2008 07:54 AM

Hey John, if you want to leave it here youre more than welcome to for that week. We can leave it on the trailer and back it right up by the barn, no one will ever see it here.

bad64chevelle 03-10-2008 09:35 AM

Just got my registration for the show in the mail on Saturday, Im gonna wait a few weeks and see how it goes with the car and then register if it looks like it will be ready.

slugger27nj 03-11-2008 09:17 PM

I'm planning on going to this as long as I don't have a tournament that day. I'm gonna see if my gf's mom want's to bring the vette, too.

NJ Torque 03-12-2008 12:48 PM

zuuhlsT/A 03-12-2008 04:29 PM

jims69camaro 03-13-2008 08:50 AM

all perfectly good reasons to come out for the day. it's usually pretty cold in the a.m. but warms up in the afternoon.

anyone know the details of the convoy? something about all meeting up at sears and riding in together?

Nice, I might take one of you up on the offer. I should know in the next week or two if the car will be back together.

yes, we normally meet at the Sear just off Rt18/Rt1 and drive over. I didn't go last year, so I'm not sure if we get the offical escort from the NBPD. Dan ( Creamsicle) and TangoTwo (Officer George) usally set that up for us in the past, but I remember some of the other clubs wanted the same escort so that may not be happening anymore?
