Rebuild price?

http://cnj.craigslist.org/pts/572950442.html

Does this sound like a good price? I have 140k on mine and no problems, "knock knock", but i have started to save thinking its gona happen sooner or later and id like to be prepaired. Those prices seem really cheap - i was thinking more in the relm of 1k to rebuild a tranny.

idk about that one. my dad had a tranny shop and we did all of those. 4l60e cost about 1k maybe a little less depending on hard parts and stuff. We did ones out of the car too and it still wasnt that cheap.

average prices ive seen is $1000-1700 for rebuild depending on parts put in

I had a freind do my 700r4 and it was about $700 to rebuild with better parts and a trans go shift kit. If I had it done by any other place I assume it would have been atleast 1k with out any of the upgrades.

I asked him a few questions and this is what he sent back - thought I just post incase someone else come across his Craigslist post.

"I offer a 7 days money back warranty if returned in original condition. I offer 3mths parts and labor warranty returned to my premises. Warranty assumes that the transmission is used as intended and not thrashed or run without fluid etc. Performance transmission can be build at extra cost depending on modifications wanted. If you want an extended warranty I offer them at $50 a month extra. In practice I have found that if the transmission is going to fail do to a faulty component is will usually fail within the first few 100 miles or so."

his warranty sounds like it doesnt cover much
you break it and he can simply say you beat on it too hard & he's not responsible..

WildBillyT 02-16-2008 08:09 AM

I think you would get what you pay for in this situation.
