another gas price thread
only this one is a bit more optimistic...
i wanna see what everyone here is doing to combat the high gas prices? i'll start -on weekends, i commute back home with a neighbor and we switch off every other week. since school is about 65 miles away and my car gets about 20mpg, i save about $20 every time i don't drive home. not to mention i get to use my dad's car on weekends which gets better gas mileage than mine - i started using more rutgers transportation once i'm at school. since i know all the parking lots at school where they don't ticket often, i used to drive to class. now i just go straight to the commuter lot and use it again only when i'm leaving after class. -i got a bicycle to use once it warms up -haven't been driving my camaro  of course in addition to other little things here and there, what about you all? |
I've been working more and more from home. That way I don't have to commute, and if I have to go to the office, I make sure its for a few days worth of work. Its only a 20 minute drive, but going there twice a week instead of 5x really saves me some money.

i walk my ass to school. & it's usually public transportation to/from NJ/Boston

I haven't driven the vette all winter aside from a few quick runs to keep it fresh...I don't take any more joy rides which is my stress release :(

absolutly nothing! i love driving and im not guna stop or slow down, my LT1 usually gets about 10-12mpg with my heavy foot in city driving. i drive to work everyday, maybe 3 miles lol

2 words "Company Vehicle"... I can usually get a month out of a tank only driving it on nice weekends

Well, I haven't driven the Monte all winter, so that's saves me $$. I also cut way back on joyrides with the kids, and when my wife has to work, we carpool, so we only use one car. So far, it's helped, but I spent $40 today on gas and it didn't even fill my Jeep! :(

Most of my commute (~16 miles each way) is highway, and not during rush hour ( I'm on the road from ~3:15 - 3:45pm and then ~12:00 - 12:20am), so I just try to keep to relatively sane speeds on the highway, and I always use the cruise control. I manage to average 16-18 mpg in my lifted Cherokee.
I removed my Yakima rack & rails to cut down on wind resistance, and I also keep the BFG ATs inflated to 40 psi on the street. - Justin |
I stopped using my 25mpg Maxx and bought a 16 mpg V8 Caprice!!
