bad fuel pump?
Got out of work today and went to start my car but no such luck. It turned over fine but that was it. thought maybe I was out of gas or just not enough in the tank to make it start, so got a ride to the station. dumped like 5 gallons in it but still nothing. when I put some gas in the throttle body it would start and run until it burned up all the fuel. Im guessing a bad fuel pump? any thoughts?

When you turn the key to the run position, do you hear the fuel pump prime?

nope. I thought i might be lucky and it just be a bad fuse...but no i checked that today too.
|
It could be the relay too....

yea, checked the relay too and all of the connections and wires. they are all good. got the pump out today....not the way I wanted to though but because I need the car tomorrow I sadly accepted the whole cut a hole in the trunk and get the damn thing done. So mid hacking we find out the new pump wont be here till thursday or friday, unless I order it from a dealership and they charge 400 dollars more for the same one. Nothing worked out right today....not cool. <-----as you can see by my sad little frowny face.

and im also hoping to find a fuel pump before thursday.

almost any autoparts store will have a fuel pump for your car in stock. |
yup got mine at napa
|
you can always lightly hit the gas tank with your foot or hand that can ususaly get a defective pump to work for a short periord of time like a starter.

i got the pump at napa but it wasn't in stock so it had to come from detroit.
Im not a big fan of autozone or advanced auto parts. |
correct me if I'm wrong, but on a 4th gen, to change out the fuel pump, you have to partially drop both the rear diff & a portion of the exhaust, to get the tank down...
if this is true, when my FP goes, I might farm it out to a mechanic :( |

Yea, that's the correct way to do it, same with a 3rd gen. If I had the time to do it myself I would have done it that way, all it takes is a little bit of time and patience. |
