Swapped out my cam this past weekend.

Took me and Nate about 18 hours. But yet the job is done. Had one helluva time getting the #8 cylinder retainer locks on the valve stem. Other then that it wasn't too bad. Had to run out to the store a few times, which set us back a few hours.

What went in:
TSP 233/239 Cam
Patriot Gold Dual Valve Springs
Hardened Push Rods
TSP ported LS2 Oil Pump
LS2 Timing Chain

First starting out.

Pulling the rocker arms.

Radiator's out. :)

Some parts...

...that I don't need.

Me trying to grind down a bolt...

Our wonderful working wooden dowels. :)

Stocker coming out.

That hole needs something...

New valve springs getting put on. Just about done, too.

That was pretty much about it for the pictures. I have some video, but I need to size it down, then I'll post it. But I do have a short video of me pulling her out of the garage. Click

Sounds pretty beastly Rob, congrats on getting it done!

Is it still puffing a little smoke?

Not anymore. Found out why it was. Blew the valve cover gasket out a bit. Took it off today and fixed it.

I broke a header bold off in the head so I have to take that off now. I know a few people that work in machine shops that can fix it for me. :) All I have to do is remove it.

And get some Patriot heads?

Sounds great Rob, as I told ya. I still like how one of the setbacks was that Nate had pants issues lol. Nate says it can idle on its own for a bit now? Is it getting better?

slaptastic 03-05-2008 07:14 AM

Yeah, it's gotten better. If I feather it a bit it'll idle great. but if it gets dropped from 2k rpms it takes a little bit to come back to a normal idle. I don't have to hit the gas to keep it running anymore. :)
