Car Alarm Q's

Ive put a little over 3.5k into my car over the few months and i think its time that i instal an alarm system when i get it back from paint tomorrow. Plus im getting a nice profit shareing check from work so i fig im gona pay off some debt and use the rest to buy a nice alarm and maybe even get a little discount on insurance too.

So what alarms should i look for and what one should i stay away from? My tint shop sells and installs them and they have a little dicount on a Python system. Any opinions on it? I like the two way systems becuase of their remotes.

people ignore alarms going off these days.. you're better off with something like lo jack

are you worried about someone stealing the car, or someone stealing things out of the car?

The really sad part of what goes on in todays market, is that if someone wants YOUR car, it's going to be stolen with or without ANY ALARM SYSTEM. A $25.00 flashing strobe light on the dash(NO alarm really installed)will scare off most thieves IF they think it's attached to an alarm system. You have a computer chip built into your key that disables the fuel and starting system from the factory, so putting in an aftermarket unit will not do much except make noise which most professionals can knock off in a few seconds.

Kill Switch for the motor, and a flame thrower + pepper spray for the outside.

You should ask your insurance company about the different types of alarms as well as lo jack. My insurance company offers a 20% discount on your premium if you have lo jack installed. That would most likely negate a large part of the cost.

Most don't offer nearly as much for standard alarms systems.
