Accident Questions
Okay so a few weeks ago i was involved in a traffic accident with a company vehicle. no one was hurt at the scene and no summonses were issued. this was feb. 12 i believe.
the reason for the accident is that the road wasnt plowed or salted and the large truck i was driving couldnt stop. so today i recieved a letter with the heading- Jesus **** vs. *****Electric Co, Inc. its from a lawyers' office and just says that he has hired them, more or less, and that i need to forward the letter to my employer's insurance co. i called the number on the letter and the person i got said that there were in fact injuries (i call BS) and although there isnt a lawsuit YET, it would be in my best interest to follow the instructions on the letter so im curious can he/will he sue me as well? how much can he get? how long before i know whats going on? ive been in minor accidents before and have never had to deal with a lawyer, but seeing how i dont technically "own" anything for them to take away, theres not much they can do i hope |
get the police report, highlight where it says refused treatment, they have not much of a chance then

Give it all to your company (make yourself copies). It is their problem.

thier is a law suit and you just read it turn it in to the company if you failed to before this - if a police report was issued than get a copy and submit that as well --

sounds like an intent to sue letter. He's looking for money so be prepared. Give it to your company. He can sue you personally, but since you were on the job, you should be covered by your company's lawyer. Your company's lawyer should take it from there and get copies of reports etc.

Just because they refused treatment at the time doesn't mean a damn thing.
I'm sure your company is smart enough to carry PLENTY of insurance, unless he's suing for a multi-million figure you're fine personally. Some lawsuits can take YEARS. He can get as much as they settle on ;) Just forward your info to your company, it's their issue now and that's why they have insurance. |

nothing for you to worry about. the other side's lawyer will know that you have no cash and therefore will not name you personally in the suit. he's looking for deep pockets, and since you don't even have pockets you won't qualify. |
