ok, here are some pictures... The main purpose of this training excersie was for our battalion to allow the gun batterys to practice firing. They use 105mm Howitzers. Now our company is supply for the batterys so it was our job to establish an AHA ammo-holding-area and make daily deliveries of ammunition and pickup of the dunnage. The batterys shot off an estimated 8k rounds of 105mm HE and we also supplied thousands of rounds of small arms ammo including .50 cal, 7.62, 5.56, 9mm, and blanks of all sorts. We set-up our AHA on a hand grenade range that was available. It was a little unsettling walking and working where you'd throw fragmentation grenades, not to mention staging and storing, thousands of HE rounds on it, but we got used to it. lol.

Been doin burnouts in the Humvees on that blacktop there Paul?
|
which truck do you drive?
|
i drove basically everything at least a few times. Our platoon just didnt get to drive the hummers, those were really just for the gun batterys.
we did a convoy excersie where we borrowed 2 up-armored humvees and I was the lead gunner in the turret with the .50 cal. I got the go ahead to open up on an approaching vehicle that wasnt stopping after we made repeated attempt to halt it, but it was just blank rounds. Our company commander and first sgt were in that vehicle and not really part of the exercise but they pulled over right away once the .50 call rang out. haha. |
haha, looks like fun paul :) that stuffs right up your alley
