Third Gen Sub Box Options?
 

Hello,
I may be looking into a system for my third gen camaro...the thing is, the camaro doesnt have alot of space as is, and the only box i see online for camaros is the one that covers that little hole in the back. i was wondering if there are any other options for boxes for third gens? I dont want an all out system i may just want one 10" sub...just something that knocks a little bit.

So the question is are there any boxes for third gens besides the one that covers up the hole in the back? Thanks

i have that Q-Logic box that fits the well and has the abs plastic top, i llooovee it, i have my amp and cap hidden underneath and all wiring out of sight

If you don't want one that goes in the well I believe someone makes one that goes behind the panel where the spare normally goes, or you can fab one for there. Or if you want to have use of that well when necessary you can go with a tube in there and make it easy to remove if necessary.

yeah i was looking on ebay...there are boxes taht kind of go in a side panel in the trunk but thats only for fourth gens.

mmhmm ... thats where I got mine for my 4th gen.


IIRC, there was a dude on TGO selling dual 12" boxes that sit flat so you can strap your t-top bag down like normal.

Build your own, it will sound the best, and you can make it as big or small as you want, keeping in mind proper air space.

I wish I still had pics of the sub box I built in my 91 that sat in where the spare tire went.

Throw the back seat down and put one on top of that. or take the back seat out and build a box to replace the seats. kind of like a platform or something. I dont drive people around so it works well for me.

thats not a good idea. the acoustics of our car make it illogical to put subs anywhere but in the hatch. something like 3x better IIRC

i had a box ontop of my rear seat but now i have a panel that holds 2 12's over the rear cargo area. i want to make a fiberglass "box" to delete the rear seats and have 2 15's and then id have it flow back and id have like 2 10's over the cargo area with the amps on the rear hump thing.

What type of music you listen too plays a factor also.

Personally, I don't see the need to remove the rear seats and go crazy with subs unless you plan on doing competitions. But I always like my stuff to be hidden or to take up as little as interior space that I can.

I have a single 10" alpine type R's in my Silverado and my LT1. Perfect for me, cause I'm a rock/metal guy. Used to have two JL W3' 12's in the well of my 91 bird before I built my 12" stealth. I put it on the meter once years ago for the hell of it and hit 143 db's with a Kicker ZR 240 amp pushing them.

Also been through homemade dual 12's bandpass, sealed dual 12's, dual 10 bandpass in my previous Ranger. Each will give a different style for what your into.

well i like all types of music...i listen mostly to classic rock...but once in a while i like to blow my ears out with techno or maybe once in a while listen to a good hip hop beat. but i agree with you as far as taking up as little interior space...especially in a camaro where there isnt alot of space to begin with.

I'm pretty much the same way, and I have a single JL 10w1 in a ported box that hits pretty hard inside my Jeep. I would actually like something a bit tighter, but don't have money to change it right now.

143 for W3's with a 240watt amp.. which was probably underrated but still.. what meter did you use? termlab?

If I were to stick a sub in my 3rd gen I would do a custom enclosure in fiberglass in place of the rear glovebox. Similar to the 4th gen box that is made to fit there.

I agree with you on that. I actually have like a mid range box ( i guess you would call it. They aren't actually subs.) in the back but they too sound better when they are in the hatch. Im a dummy. :lol:
