heat bypass

engine 305 ho

username (juan) was changing his water pump last night. on the new pump there is a plug on top that you have to take out and put the nipple from the old pump where that plug was. the hose that goes on there goes to the heater core. well the plug is stripped and can't get the plug out. i told him to just bypass the heater core. now obviously he can just leave the plug i. but what about the other hose from the heater core to the motor? wat can he use to cap off the motor side where the hose goes to ? i know he can just take a small hose and just run it from one side to the other on the firewall side to cap the heater core. but what can he use to block off where the other hose is going? i wont be able to take a look at the car til later but does anyone has any ideas so i can just do it quick?

leave the water pump closed off.

Run a line from the radiator to the heater core.

Then a line from the manifold to the heater core

I think that problem is that the water pump has two openings for the heater core lines, and one is capped (and stripped, so using it ATM is not an option). They need to know how to close off the other opening in the water pump.

Right?

not to my knoeledge. Theres only one plug in the pump at the top. Get it out by using a 3/8 drive ratchet extension, and a 5/8 barb fitting is what most use to run the heater core hose. Thats how it was on the LG4 in my 86 before I yanked it out.

What does this have to do with bypassing the heater core?

They got the water pump replaced so they can now use the fitting on the pump so they don't need to bypass it anymore.
