As long as your making the green its worth it.

$$$

RiggsLW81 05-19-2008 11:39 AM

thats a relative statement. i dont get OT. its not worth it.

WildBillyT 05-19-2008 11:44 AM

Exactly. If you are working hard and making $ (either for you or your company) that's good. If you are working that hard just to stay afloat without any benefit than that's not good at all.

Welcome to my last summer. I worked job a from 7-3, job b from 4-10 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday I worked Job A 7-3 then had class 5-830. and saturday and sunday I worked job b 6a-4p. I burnt myself out and quit the second job about 4 months into that and never went back. It wasnt worth the money I was making there at that point, it was just extra money for the car. You can only go so long before you wear yourself too thin.

JSPERFORMANCE 05-20-2008 07:00 AM

better than not working at all.

i worked like that right out of high school just to make sure i never had to ask my dad for a dime. i ended up working at that place for a little over a year and i had enough in the bank to buy a new car, although i never did.

i ended up with so much in the bank because i was so exhausted after working that i never did anything and my paychecks just started to add up. i think i was making $8/hr, and back then that was a decent wage especially with 8 hours of OT per day. it would be equivalent to about 20/hr today plus the overtime. not millionairish, but not the poor house either. and when you have nothing to spend it on, it just collects in the bank.

makes me wish i was back there now, with the knowledge i have today. certain stocks to buy, land to buy, businesses to invest in...

Im looking for a job now, It sucks. Seems like no one can win...

79CamaroDiva 05-20-2008 07:57 PM

Yeah, I work from the moment I get up til the moment I go to sleep. obviously not all of it is paid. I get up, check my emails, answer any stupid questions there may be, make a few phone calls, take a shower, leave for the office, work til 8 or 9 either there or back at home, then try to do some of my own business stuff from about 10 til 2 or so. I'm barely staying afloat, and that's why a lot of people wonder why I don't show up anywhere. I either cant afford it, or don't have the time. Hell, even the only time I see my other half we're working or recovering from work. It sucks a lot, hopefully one day will pay off, but until then, I am multiple thousands in debt, just from business start up costs, bills, etc.

Truck still outta commission?

Slo86Bird 05-21-2008 11:32 PM

no but they are for sale. both of them

RiggsLW81 05-23-2008 10:40 AM

true, i am still working, but on this job the 90 hour work week isnt justified by the (very few) benjamins that come home with me at weeks end. ughh... well, i plan on coming down on sunday to Josh's meet at his shop. at least then ill get to drive the iroc! lol

RiggsLW81 05-23-2008 10:43 AM

oh, and i would drive it. everyday if i drove to work, but i work in nyc and take the bus, NO WAY the iroc goes into the city...too much invested in it for some dumb ass cabbie to smash it up and i certtainly wouldnt leave it parked on the street or at some parking lot with a guy who barely speaks coherent english.
