for you guys that go to the track
have you found yourself going less because of the gas prices or don't you care? when you add it up, for me to go it cost me 50 bucks worth of fuel to tow my car to atco and back. 15 bucks a gallon for C16 i usally get 4 gallons plus the 30 or so bucks to race. so thats like 140 bucks just to go to a T&T night and get maybe 3 runs in. oh and then add in the cost to fill 4 tanks of nitrous:twisted: this hobby sure is costing alot of greenbacks. but i guess as the saying goes if you want to play you got to pay.

gas prices havent gotten to me yet. yet....
|
doesn't phase me but I'm not at the level your at so those numbers you threw out add up quick. I do care about the gas prices but it is what it is. Yes I am paying to play. I figure my job as an energy engineer allows me to save a lot in my line of work so I'm allowed to spend a little on my own time ;)

I aint gonna go to the track in this weather. Gas prices are so ridiculous it has totally changed the way I drive the TBSS. My DIC is showing I'm gettin like 16mpg right now. I know I aint, but its over 15. I haven't gotten over 15 since I did the TC over 3 months ago. Gas is killin me....

If I had a car that was worthy of track time It probably would be a factor, figure 2 gallons there & 2 back & 1 at the track@$4 a gallon is $20 right off the bat & thats not including entry, Etown I think is $30 to race, atco is probably still a bit less, but either way $40-50 to hit the track doesn't make me want to go to the track. Then again, I remember back in the day when gas was like $1.30 for premium & $10-12 to race at the track, there were a few times I went down to cecil county to race because I knew it wouldn't kill my pockets. Theres no way I'd travel that far to race now just for a T&T

for me to go to the track...its an hour to my girls, hour to island (from my house its like 15 minutes) and pay for a race and a spectator, get a few runs in, and then drive her n hour home and then an hour back to my house...theres a full tank right there...so figure 50-60 bucks in gas, 30 to get in and race with spectator and then dinner....arg! lol

Leave her home then and you'll save a bundle!!;) |
I actually sat down and figured out cost per pass.
If I bring the IROC out for an index race qualify, and go out in the first round that gives me 3 passes. It works out to cost $70 per pass, if I go rounds the cost per pass decreases until final round when if I win the race I make like $25 per pass. This includes gas for the truck, pump gas for the car, nitrous, race gas for the nitrous cell, entry fee for the car and crew, torch gas, and other misc expenses for the night. So point is I gotta win more races! |
Since I only go in the spring/fall/winter it's not stopping me from going. Ofcourse I only putting 1/4 tank in the car when I go lol. Gas prices do SUCK though.

I definitely won't be going every Tuesday night like last season. I will be lucky if I make it twice a month. Gas for the tow vehicle is about $80-90, fuel for the car $9.25/gallon (Atco), entry fee for Gamblers $50.00 + crew $10.00. It sucks but there's nothing we can do about it.
