315s won't fit on my rear
I tried putting my 315s on today and they are hitting on the frame above the bump stops. What do i need to do to get them to fit? Its a 94 Z28 with the SLP Eibach 1.2" lowering springs and SLP Bilstein shocks, the rest of my suspension is stock

what king of wheels? how bad? i had to cut my bump stops off with 295's on 10 or 10.5 inch wide wheels. they were 18's though. there isn't as much room as many people say. a hammer will help though. if i have a passenger or two, ill rub the right rear fender especially under hard acceleration.

put the car on teh floor, raise the car up from the axle (not the body) and it should slide right on. :)
when the car is being risen from the body, the suspension depresses (is that the opposite of compressing?) and the bumpstops get in the way. |
ummm...u think maybe when you hit a nice bump or dip in the road, bad things would happen when the suspension travels? yeah...

Sorry, but I have OCD when it comes to tires and wheels...
You dont have a ZR1 that is 17x315.... You have ZR1 wheels that are 17x11 or 10.9 The tire size is 315/35-17 Fronts are 275/40-17 Please correct. Thank you. |
i wasnt sure about the inch width of the rim and ill correct my sig now...anyway the wheels are on thanks for the help about lifting it by the rear
|
You better trim the bumpstops or they could damage the rim when you hit a serious bump. The KDW's do runner wider than the Sumitomo's even though they are both listed as 315's.

thats what i was talking about

its not the tire that will hit the bumpstop, its the rim. at least thats what hit with my car. i did grind done a very, very little of the bumpstop. basically just took the edge off. hit it with black paint to see if it would rub, and nothing yet. keep in mind i autox with 16x8 rims (for now) and street drive with my 17x11s. but still, hitting the shyty roads all over bergen county, and trying out e-towns road course, all with the 17x11s, not a mark on the bumpstops.

I have ZR1 replicas 17x11 with 50mm offset and V710's 's and run a 0.400 billet aluminum spacer (all four corners) for autox and don't have any issues at all with the bumpstop (or the outer fender lip for that matter). Without the spacer, I could see the bump stop becoming a problem when jacking the car up and the suspension going to full extension. I did have to take the BFH to the front of the rear inner wheel well to massage the wheel house some ,but no big deal.
Keep in mind that there are two offsets the ZR1 wheels come in, 50mm and 36mm. Supposedly, the 50mm is better suited to the Camaro and the 36mm is better suited to the TransAm/Firebird. Lots of info on this is on FFRAX. Good Luck. |
i traded my 18X9.5 C6 ZO6 for these and don't quite have all the info but they're on and they are looking wicked

I had the same problem when installing my ZR1 replicas with 315s. At the time I had the eibach pro kit and KYB shocks. I went back to stock springs to fit the tires and still had banging issues on the bump stops when the rear would rebound from large bumps in the road. I ended up cutting the whole bump stop bracket out (BFH mod)
If you want to try and keep the lowering springs, I suggest getting an adjustable panhard bar and some wheel spacers. 315s stick out some already, so the spacers will make it look more drastic. I also had some rubbing issues on the front rims on the spindle...that was my main reason for returning to stockers. damn replicas. Goodluck. |
You ended up cutting them out? lies! Sawzaw > dremel
