I don't remember why you were looking specifically at a 99.....anything wrong with finding a deal on a 2000-2002?

i duno, the 99's have been cheaper that the 2000-2002's. i'm just looking for one for around 7,000. I have been looking for one that needs body work. just for price reference i have found a blue 99 with a dented in 1/4 that has 79,000 miles with chrome z06 wheels for 6,500in texas i just want to raise up an extra like 1000 in the bank so if anything goes wrong i can have it fixed or fix it myself

just as long as you steer clear of the 98s. they were the frankenstein year.

oh, and sell me your nova :)

Care to elaborate? i've only heard of problems with the rod bolts and occasionally the oil pumps.

yeah those are the two biggest ones right there. besides that its only minor variations. its really the rodbolts and the oil pumps that do it for me.

There are at least some of the sensors on the motor that are '97-98 only, and usually harder to find, plus the computer isn't nearly as tunable as the 99-02 ones. I believe foff667 has said that the '98s only have about half of the parameters of the 99-02 computers.
