Decisions, Decisions

Im up in the air right now between putting 3-4k into the camaro and having like a grand left over after i buy my beater. or buy my beater and have nothing left over and buy a bike. i miss my bike alot and they get great gas milage (when i can stay off the throttle) but im not sure which way i should go with it. help me out!

deadtrend1 06-22-2008 08:17 AM

I would choose a bike.

Its your money man .. .lol

JerzLT1 06-22-2008 08:30 AM

ive always wanted a FAST car (i dont consider 12.51 fast) but i miss my bike so much. they would both be seasonal since the camaro wears slicks all year.

Frosty 06-22-2008 08:35 AM

How fast do you want to go in the car? What would you buy with 3-4K? If you have a certain ET in mind is 3-4K truly going to be enough to make it fast and keep it together?

qwikz28 06-22-2008 08:50 AM

i say bike. investing in a 12+ year old car for some lols isn't too wise. actually, let me put it this way. if i could do it over again, i would have kept my car stockish (no heads/cam/rear) and gotten a nice cruiser bike.

I htink the extra money put into the car will give a higher chance of breaking something like he said. Unless you plan on doing a well thought out build with the right parts you're probably better off with the bike.

LTb1ow 06-22-2008 09:17 AM

But getting your car faster is way more fun and a good challenge for you.

shane27 06-22-2008 10:24 AM

build up the camaro

JerzLT1 06-22-2008 11:08 AM

id be doing a built trans, "higher stalled torque converter"(is that correct enough for everyone? lol) almost full suspension, and a nitrous kit. the trans, converter, and N2O would be installed before i got home and the suspension i would do myself

JerzLT1 06-22-2008 11:09 AM

btw once the motor goes i plan on doing a forged bottom end 383 with heads, cam, and lots of spray. this would be a step in the right direction since i wouldnt be wasting money on a motor that was gonna go anyway.

Frosty 06-22-2008 11:26 AM

Damn it, I only saw the 3.73 part lol

Disregard previous post

JerzLT1 06-22-2008 11:33 AM

lol yeah if i didnt have it thats what the post would be about lol. always build from the back to the front ;)

iamsickofitall 06-22-2008 11:43 AM

if you are doing trans, converter & suspension, you have absolutely no money left over for N2O. If you are going to do it in a manner that will both please you and be as safe as possible, you need to budget $1500+ for an N2O system and install everything yourself, otherwise you'll have a system with no safety features and will be heating your bottle up with a propane torch like the retards on PINKS do. i priced out a new system for myself and came up with a budget number of $2500.

i vote that you don't have enough money and should buy a bike.

Nitrous works LT1 Plate kit = $500. the rest of what ill need would run around 500 more. and were not getting into heating a bottle with a torch because this thread isnt about that. i may have to go over my budget a little for the Nitrous but no where near 2500 unless im doing a DP kit...

ditto.

If you're confident that you can keep the car together with the funds you have set aside I say go for it. But I'm also biased, I'm not a bike person at all. I get no enjoyment out of them and you're restricted in its use even more so than the Z.

The question is, based on the possible power of the car after the nitrous and stuff what would please YOU more? The bike or the car? Set financial issues aside, lets say the Z was a solid, reliable 11.50's car..and you could get a bike. Which would please you more?

after losing my cousin to a harley, Ill never ride again . do the camaro bro.

i get more pleasure out of racing car with the camaro because ive never come across a car on the street that could take my bike and most people wouldnt even race me. i get alot of attempts in the camaro. but other then that i get more joy out of just riding the bike around

bandit88 06-22-2008 06:29 PM

It's a tough decision........ but I'd go for a bike..... the money you save in gas can go into the car ;)
