got a kinda stupid stereo question.
can u get pulled over for too loud of stereo?
do you turn yours lower when near a cop? (sorry for stupid questions lately) |
yea u can but u can beat it if they do not use a desabel meter
|
It depends on what town you're in. Most towns have some sort of 'unnecessary noise' ordinance that can be enforced if said noise is coming from a car. They usually don't specify decibels; rather, it's worded as "noise that is louder than reasonably necessary." In other words, it's discretionary and one more reason to pull over the guy with the nice car.

Yes. And it depends on the way the local ordinance is write if a decibel meter is required.

i usually lower it to a reasonable volume, and i try not to blast it through residential neighborhoods especially at night, just looking for trouble.

LoL my friend got pulled over for "noise pollution" once and the cop let him go for it we were seniors in high school...but the cop tried to scare him saying that every "bump" he hears from a sub its a 10,000 fine...we laughed

"noise" tickets are all dependant on the specific officer for the most part, Rarely if ever are decibel meters used at a standard traffic stop. If the cop feels you are a nusiance with the volume of the stereo etc, he can and will ticket you.
now you may also say, "well, if its just his judgment and no meter was used, i can fight it in court"... and yes that is very true, you can fight it and 99.9% of the time you'll lose. A cop is a cop... the judge will take his word over yours, deal with it lol. Just play you're stereo at a reasonable volume for where you are. I've always had substantial systems and not once got stopped for the volume. |
