Its been a while since i made a new thread
so heres a semi depressing story for everyone to enjoy
Starbucks closing 600 underperforming stores in the United States SEATTLE (AP) -- Starbucks Corp. has announced it's closing 600 underperforming stores in the United States. The Seattle-based premium coffee company also announced Tuesday it expects to open fewer than 200 new company-operated stores in the United States in fiscal 2009. The company says it will try to place workers from closed stores in remaining Starbucks. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080701/starb...gent.html?.v=1 |
Well that's what they get, in State College PA we have two of their stores almost next to each other. They are about 1/4 mile apart, what sense does that make?

Its Starbucks, who cares?

not to mention its a lot of money for what you get. In this economy, who is going to spend 5bucks on a coffee?
|
Thank God it's not Dunkin or WaWa

I don't think I've ever been to a Starbucks. $4 for a coffee could explain why! They have way too many stores anyway. I still like the Simpson's episode when they go to the mall and every store is a Starbucks! Doh!

1. I would never pay for coffee because I do not like it, so to me Starbucks is pointless. 2. Obviously people are not willing to pay for their coffee at this particular time, otherwise they would not be closing so many store... |
Inferior vs. Superior goods.
Money is tight for a lot of people. For two cups of Starbucks coffee you can buy a pound of Dunkin Donuts grounds and brew a lot more than two cups of decent tasting coffee. I remember back in January I was VERY surprised when Starbucks lowered their prices. |
I really love my grande java chip frappacino but at $5.60 a pop they can keep it and grande isn't even their large ill stick with some DD regular coffee at like $1.25
|
i can't get down with dunkin donuts coffee to be honest. i think it tastes awful. most of the time its homemade coffee or convenience store coffee (green mountain coffee is A+).
i just want to explain something really quick. starbucks knows their coffee isn't worth the money. its the experience your paying for. it really attacks your senses when your there. the warm cup, the attractive decor, the coffee aroma, the whir of the espresso machine, and of course the taste of the coffee. there isn't many other places you can take a lady friend for a quick chat, read a book, or meet with friends. its really more of a social event than a cup of joe. forget the coffee for a minute and i challenge you all to find me a cafe or any other establishment that offers a similar experience that is as warm and comforting as a starbucks... |
I will stick with my regular Ha Bi Bi on the corner st. in the city. I get a great cup of coffee and a Bagel with Cream cheese for a 1.50.00 Cant beat it. There coffee taste better the star bucks any day.
|
i am not a fan of starbucks either, infact i had it once and it sucked. the sad part is that 600 stores of a major coffee chain are closing which means thousands more people will be out of a job. times are tight.

yeah your right, never thought outside the cafe listings in my head. the only factor being finding a panera close by. there are tons more starbucks' than paneras.
|
First off, its 2.50 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks, and if you like coffee its good stuff.
Its maybe a dollar less at Wawa or other places, and it doesnt taste as good. Im not a big coffee drinker if at all, but DD's is no better then a regular cup of Starbucks price wise. |

Um..Actually I can't think of any starbuck's around me here, but there are two Paneras. I guess they are not as rare as i thought... |
