farve going to unretire

reports have favre wanting out of green bay to find another team to play for. why do so many players retire just to come back the next year? once i retire thats it!!!!!

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...o&confirm=true

madness410 07-12-2008 11:19 AM

wow i dont know man, if he plays for another team i think his legacy is kind of ruined there...

bubba428 07-12-2008 11:20 AM

yup

SteveR 07-12-2008 11:31 AM

They were talking about this being a possibility on ESPN a few days ago. I'm curious to see where he goes and how the Green Bay fans will react.

retiring from a team and fan base that loved you only to unretire and play with another team is kinda like a slap in face.

i sure alot of teams would rather have favre then who they have as a starter right now!!

yea, he's a great QB and I'm sure he'll excel no matter where he goes. The only player that comes to mind for me with the whole retire unretire deal is Roger Clemens. Retired from the Yankees, then unretired to go to Houston, to retire again, to unretire and come back to NY. I still wear his jersey

bubba428 07-12-2008 12:54 PM

watch him end up in Miami HAHAHAHA

Supposedly the Packers wanted an answer by March 1st but he wanted time to think it over like in the past. Since they wanted an answer so fast he said I'm out. Now he still wants to play and he's pissed they forced him out. SO, he will unretire and G.B. will have to trade him. Problem is his salary. Minn and Chi would be good places but G.B. said they won't trade him within their league SOOOO who does that leave that needs a QB right now. Miami is a good option, but I think Wash. might also be interested. Ya never know.

bubba428 07-12-2008 01:50 PM

I would **** bricks if he really did end up in miami....that funny as hell

crap bubba i thought you meant going from the cold tundra of green bay to the heat of miami. you know one extreme to the other:lol:

iamsickofitall 07-12-2008 03:48 PM

you guys are forgetting that the packers have to release him first. they own him for the next 3 years and i'm sure they'd do everything in their power to stop him from joining a rival team like the bears

Tru2Chevy 07-12-2008 04:13 PM

I saw mention of this last night on ESPN while I was out at the bar. Craziness.....

the packers have said they would refuse to release him. they said he's welcome to play back-up QB but they have moved on w/o him as a starter.

Or that the only player with any stats higher than Favre is Marino, who played in Miami

untill they start 0-3

SteveR 07-13-2008 11:14 PM

are there any rules regarding a player retiring? Does that release them from a team or not? What time frame does GB have over him if not?

Mike 07-13-2008 11:17 PM

i think when they retire with years left on a contract, their rights belong to that team for the remainder of those years

jims69camaro 07-14-2008 11:10 AM

you mean Favre? not Farve... although it's pronounced that way. he's being a spoiled little QB, just like all of them out there. they think their **** smells like roses.

that is correct. in order to unretire, the only thing the player has to do is request reinstatement from the league commissioner, who will reinstate the player 999 times out of 1000.

when a player retires, assuming they still have years left on their contract, will be place on their team's reserved/retired list which keeps them as property of their team but not on the active roster.

Yup. Now he's whining about how he's unwanted. I had mad respect for the guy but the NFL doesn't revolve around you Brett, the Packers are a business and from a business standpoint they moved on.
