Custom exhaust...

ok, ive decided i want a little different sound for my car. Plus the stock muffler is said to be very restrictive. I looked at some catbacks and the cheapest is around 600... which i am not paying. lol. Magnaflow is 705...

so ive decided just to replace the muffler for now. i was considering a magnaflow or an old flowmaster i had already. Then i remember people on ls1tech talking about the dynomax ultraflow welded muffler. i looked up so threads about it and seems that is one of the best flowing mufflers the ls1 guys have found. So, i think im gonna go with that.

Now the only issue i'll have is the install. the factory inlet comes in right through the center/middle of the case(like 12 o-clock position) and the outlets are on the side(3 and 9 o-clock). I'd get a camaro/firebird crossflow muffler with a 3" in and dual 2.5" outlets. The outlets will match up with the current pipes going to the stock tips. Now with the inlet, i figure i'll have to cut it back, use some mandrel bent tubing to bring it around the side of the case to the inlet.

once im back in jersey im gonna place my order with summit for the muffler and some tubing and hopefully by the weekend ill have a new sound.oh and btw, if this confused anyone, its for my SKY. and i added a pic of the sock style setup.

I can't really see if your car is actually an SS or Z28 judging by the picture in your signature..
But if it is an actual SS and if you have the stainless steel SS muffler
That Muffler flows pretty dam good..
My buddy has a 2001 SS with QTP headers, QTP Y-pipe and a 224/224 cam with Patriot LS6 cylinder heads..
So we unhooked the Stock SS cat-back on the dyno so that it was basically just an open Y-pipe and he only ended up gaining 7hp and I think it was 5 ft lbs torque..
So we installed a Cut-out on the I-pipe for when he wanted the little gain and more noise..

a friend of mine does full custom exhaust systems, it pretty far from you but it'll cost you around 350 at the most
