Weird computer problem

Ok so yesterday I had fios installed but had a few issues integrating my router, so I went online for a little help & got some advice to change 1 setting on the verizon router(which I did) and then connecting to my router & restarting my pc.

Now here's where the weird stuff started, when my pc rebooted the screen resolution had changed and a bunch of old files that I had either deleted or moved over the past couple of weeks were back on my desktop. I'm like wtf so I do a system restore to about an hour before I did any of that stuff and no change, the screen resolution is still odd and the files are still sitting on my desktop.

Anyone ever see or hear of this or how to at least fix my screen resolution? I've gone through everything under properties and none of them had the resolution I had prior to all of this. Maybe my pc is trying to tell me theres something wrong but I just thought it was very odd.

One other thing I should probably mention is recently Ie for the past two or three days everytime I right click on a video file the screen would blank out for a bout a second and then bring up the options list.

Blanking out sounds like its trying to find an external video output, such as hooking up a flat screen monitor to a laptop.

nvidia's website had some info on the screen blanking out, it was something in the registry that needed to be deleted, gonna try and figure out how it got there now.

Also was able to fix my screen resolution issue, apparently I lost my 1440x900 resolution for some reason and had to update to the newest nvidia drivers to get it back.

I will definitely mark this is the weird column for a while.
