4th gen Ttop Hardware???
Yeah i remember a thread awhile ago discussing the 4th gen ttop conversion and the point that all 4th gen have the necessary structure (as evident by the crease in my headliner). The question is does anyone know where i can get the corresponding hardware?? Id rather purchase pieces that havent been sitting in a junkyard somewhere for leaks sake.
I cant stand the feeling of a hardtop any longer. This is my best option since the car market is kinda flushing down the toilet now. |
The dealer wants a grand just for the t-tops.
The prices arent bad for the middle trim piece and ect.. You could try Contemporary Corvette or they are on Ebay under FPARTS I think but they are in Bristol P.A. they do 4th gen Salvage.. Funny you mention that though because I will probably be converting my car over to a Hard top this winter.. |
well then if you want i can wait till the winter and you can sell me your ttop hardware
|
Talk to SmokingSS, he might have a setup or just watch the classifieds on a site where 4th gen parts are sold
|
Yea, SmokingSS did have everything for a conversion, not sure if he still does.

where can i find this fella
|
Do a members search... he has a pewter SS camaro and now a saturn sky.
Look for a post by "MikeSomething" he wanted to do a T Top swap too... |
Just send a new PM, and type his username into the "To" box :)

don't know if this is really going to help you find the hardware but its a pretty decent writeup on the conversion...it also contains a few links to some other sites.. only cost this guy $335 to do his

i have all the hardware..and one Ttop from one car..and a 100% complete swap from another car
Edit: ...not to hijack but..how do you plan to go from Ttop ot hardtop? bc i HATE Ttops and am getting an 00 formula with them..which i'd be very interested in the possibility of converting it into a hardtop |
im no expert and not sure if im right but im assuming you would just need to remove all the ttop weatherstripping and weld in the roof skin from a hardtop car over the ttop structure and then get the appropriate weatherstripping for a hardtop.. i say this becasue ttop and hardtop cars are identical structurally speaking.. i dont think its really worth it goin from ttop to hardtop, but ttop to hardtop is def worth it in my opinion
|
i've had 60+ fbodies so far (that i've actually driven..doesn't count parts cars) and i'll take hardtop every time .....if theres any kind of option..you'd never see me go for the Ttops
anyway..theres no "weld in roof skin" its all plastic... |
ok since its plastic and cant be welded in theres got to be someway to attach it to the rest of the body.. heres an image i found of how a hardtop car is assembled..
