8:20
is how long teh 5th gen camaro SS takes to get around the 'ring. that is lightening fast.
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/22/c...-ring-in-8-20/ forget the low 7 second numbers you've seen from the ZR1 and GTR, this is real affordable machinery. here is some perspective: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordsch...test_lap_times |
09 Nissan GT-R is right up there. I bet it will cost a pretty penny :(
|
I'm starting to like it more & more, and these numbers are impressive. Again my biggest complaint is its a little lacking in the visual department as far as upgrades go!
|
I guess they got the design right.
Im sure there will be plenty to do, but GM did a great job at making this car look perfect. Im not a huge fan of visual mods, but this car has all of it. LED halo/HID projector headlamps are dead sexy. 8:20 is awesome. CTS-V did it just under 8 mins, but carried 130 more hp as wella s magnaride shocks. Cant wait for Z28. |
i hate to beat a dead horse, but i do wish they made it a little lighter. i know its tough with all the safety regulations and such, but if the Z28 does come out, it better be lighter as well

Good time, but seems lacking compared to the Turbo Cobalt......only 8:22 for that.

Camaro SS beat out the last gen M3, which btw is still raved about for its handling prowess.
Its AMAZING that the Cobalt SS turbo did that time, and goes to show you that GMPD dont eff around when it comes to performance. And to think that is using what some have referd to as an "inferior solid twist beam axle chassis." I just wish that ALL Cobalt's handled as well as the SS, or just some of it. |
that's sick as hell. and people knock pushrods and live axes. HA!...... but seriously....whats up with the 1/4 miles times thats been posted?

and as for the 1/4 mile times, somebody estimated low 13s which is ridiculous for a car of that power |
Ahh....makes sense. It's monday morning for me now....not quite "with it" yet.

Challenger SRT8's are hitting 12's with same power, more weight, less gear
Camaro SS should be 12's without a set of DR's. And apparently this 8:20 is from a stop, not a rolling start which is starting to become the true way to test. If thats the case, Camaro could be just seconds away from the CTS-V. what will be interesting is having the CTS 3.6 DI coupe vs the Camaro RS as well as CTS-V coupe vs Camaro Z28. Id also like to see CTS 3.6 SFI vs G8 V6 Sport. |
