Toyota reacts to Nationwide Series engine ruling
"We're extremely disappointed in NASCAR's decision. In our opinion, there is no technical justification to penalize the Toyota engine utilized in the Nationwide Series." wth, Nascar is supposed to be a field of cars with an "equal" advantage. The engines need to be around the same ballpark of hp. I think someone's upset because the field is actually fair now. |
NO ****ING ****. YOU DON'T ****ING SAY.
Gee, I wonder why Kyle Busch hasn't had competition this year. Toyota sucked a fat one last year and now all the sudden they are untouchable. Overcorrection, anybody? |
well according to the article it's only the nationwide cars

I still say NASCAR would be way better if they stuck with what their name implies - "stock" cars.
Slap a 4" spoiler on the front and back of a stock body, toss a cage in it, and only allow whatever the top motor the manufacturer sticks in 'em on the assembly line. Then we'll see who's really better :D - Justin |
I agree with you 100% justin

I believe one report that said leave Toyota alone and let Chevy, Ford and Dodge develop newer engines. The SB2 Chevy engine has been talked about forever. Toyota found an honest way to put more power into their motors. I hate that a foreign car company takes a Good Ole Boy sport and sticks it up our ass in only one year. Loosen up the restrictions on the big 3 and get the cars back up to speed. Seeing them run around 200 mph would up the excitement zone instead of having them run speeds they were running back in the late 60's. The winged Dodge Daytona's were running 200+ in 1970.

So when is Nissan and Honda throwing their hats into the Nascar ring?
I still can't believe Toyota is involved. I wonder how southern rebels feel about that, with their American pride and all. Does Jeff Burton, Terry Labonte, Chad Little, and Greg Biffle still drive? |
juff burton yes, terry labonte sometimes, chad little retired in 2002, and biffle yes
|
Hate to hijack the thread, but does Bobby Hamilton or Mark Martin still drive?
Also, how is the field spreadout for every race in terms of how many people drive Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Pontiac, and Toyota? I mean what seems to be the majority in the sport? |

That sucks about Hamilton. He was a good legendary racer. I always remember him in the STP car more than anything.
I miss the days when Jeff Burton drove the 99 exide, Darrell ? drove the quality care, Rudd drove the Tide, Terry Labonte drove the Kellogs number 5, Michael Waltrip drove the Citgo car, and Earnhardt Sr. was still alive. The good ol days before Stewart, Harvick, and Erhardt Jr came along. I can't believe so many sponsors went with Toyotas. I am glad to see that there are at least more Chevys than Toyotas. I never thought I'd see the day where they outnumber Dodge and Ford though. Are the Toyotas aerodynamically efficient more than the others? Or do they just get better fuel economy? lol. I remember when they initially switched from the Luminas to the Monte Carlos, they had wedge problems with the aerodynamics on the Chevys. The sponsors should boycott Toyotas. Nothing against them, but they just don't belong in Nascar. Maybe one day we'll see Chevrolet or Dodge enter Formula one. lol. |

What a bunch of sell outs. lol. The legends must be rolling over in their graves.
I mean I know its about money, but the sport has even changed a good amount since the late 1990s by the looks of it. So you guys think Nissan, Hyundai, or Honda/Acura will join the party anytime soon? lol. |
