More progress on the rust bucket

Well picked up some wheels the finish that was on them was shot (stained brown, chipped and a little curbed up) I plan on eventually getting them powdercoated but the tires on them still have prob. 70% tread and i was unsure what color i wanted them so i decided to spray them myself for the time being.

The color is graphite and if you guys want id be more then happy to do a write up on the process. My results are not perfect as i have not wet sanded the wheels so there are a couple spots that are not perfectly smooth etc. Total cost for everything was about 30 bucks.

Next up on the mod list is paint.. then a posi rear some bolt on suspension parts and a 150 shot until my tranny goes.

that looks pretty slick!

Knipps 08-04-2008 03:51 PM

It looks good! and a write up couldn't hurt.

My question is why paint before the mods?

Because me and another member are doing it ourselves and right now the paint looks like ass... so it will be getting paint all new lights except the rears which will be refinished new grill etc. Then it will be getting the mods mentioned above for now then next year a built th400 and strange s60 and then josh will be building me a fully forged mini rammed motor with a 200 shot on it.

Yes, Duplicolor Graphite FTW!!! I'm impressed with how well that paint goes on from a spray can. Nice work!

sweetbmxrider 08-04-2008 06:54 PM

 I thought that was part of the deal picking them up?

Rich they look really good in that color and a lot better than when we got them.
Also where does my 71 fit into those pictures

WayFast84 08-05-2008 08:23 AM

do suspension parts first! I did the same thing you did. I got the car running then went to paint, then did motor and trans and then suspension and still need that rear.

I would do suspension first, rear second then motor and trans and then paint..

Rich I hope I see you at the nats I need a quote on detailing my car.

PolarBear 08-05-2008 08:29 AM

He just wants to drive it for a while before he breaks something. Ill be the one laying the paint so it is only going to cost him materials really. That way he can save money on the go fast parts

The prep will be done pretty quickly as ive done it a few times before probably strip the lights ground effects etc one afternoon and ill have it prepped and primered by lunch the next day so there probably wont be much time to call to have you come give a hand as james and i are both on tight schedules with work and other commitments.

I like the contrast with the graphite and green for now. Are you happy with the wheels and tires? I like them on your Camaro more than my GTA

Jam 08-07-2008 09:26 PM

looks great. I'm going to paint my stockers black so it holds me off until the winter when I get the c6 z06s

92rscamaro 10-01-2008 09:58 AM
