Comedian and Chicago native Bernie Mac died early Saturday morning from complications due to pneumonia, his publicist confirmed.

Mac, 50, had been hospitalized for about a week at Northwestern Hospital, according to his spokeswoman. A few years ago, Mac disclosed that he suffered from sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs.

I just read the news on yahoo when i checked my mail. 50 is way to young to die.

Woke up to that this morning, very unfortunate. I thought he was pretty funny. I'm going to watch Friday tonight in his honor.

And it said in the news yesterday that he was listed in stable condition and due to be released soon. Def sucks. RIP

another great one gone...i as k everyone to watch "The Kings of Comedy" with him, Steve Harvey, DL Hughley, and Cedric "The Entertainer." Mac closes the show out and by far is the funniest...he had the unbelievable ability to keep his flow going and the audience never stops laughing...he was the next Richard Pryor in my eyes...RIP "you no good sum-muma-bitch!"
