3rd Gen 17's

Looking at wheels for my 86. Will 275 50 17 fit? Anyone run these? Are spacers needed and will I have a problem rubbing the LCA/frame when turning the steeing wheel from lock to lock?

I have 275/40/17s on the vert buuut Im running a 4th gen rear and 2" spacers up front for the 2001 SS wheels.

I just have some slight rubbing up on the front wheels cause the ASC installed SFC's Other than that, no problems what-so-ever.

I'd say the 50's will be too tall; go for 275/40s. Ted is running 17x9's with 275/40s at all 4 corners on his '89 IROC, and it looks damn good.

I have 17x9.5" ronals with 275/40-17's they fit perfect and never rub on my formula.

ROH 17x9s with 275-40R/17s all around, no spacers needed, minor rubbing on the plastic fender liners at steering lock.

Seeing as this was a "factory" wheel for 2 years there should be no problem. I also have the R15's and the same tire size, I occasionally rub on the plastic fender liners. I think you can adjust them a little though.50's would be very tall and throw the speedo off quite a bit.

Actually it's only ~1" taller, and the speedo would read 4% slow.

275/45/17 is definitely the way to go though.

275/40/17 would be ~ stock height, so the 50 would be ~ 1.2" taller aprrox 8% slower. at 70 on the dash he would actually be going 75? Is my math correct there?

Tru2Chevy 08-18-2008 10:26 PM

Yes.....me FTL on that one.

Actually it's almost 2" taller than stock and the speedo would read 8.4% slow.

Correct....
245/45-17
275/40-17
315/35-17
275/35-18
315/30-18
That is all.
