header question

what headers would go best with the slp loudmouth ?

Tru2Chevy 09-05-2008 11:17 AM

For what? Sound? Performance? Fitment?

sweetbmxrider 09-05-2008 03:32 PM

ones with cat/cats on the y-pipe

91camaroracer 09-21-2008 07:26 AM

ok, to restate the question a little differently, what header/exhaust combo would go good with an ls1? im looking for good sound, power, and fitment

LTb1ow 09-21-2008 09:03 AM

Pacesetter headers, pacesetter ORY, Borla shotgun muffler, LM1.

deadtrend1 09-21-2008 10:17 AM

I personally will never buy pacesetters again.

+1 hate those things!

gmmg exhaust!!!!!!

KirkEvil 09-21-2008 02:12 PM

Pacesetter headers are your bang for the buck. Get cats and the borla xr1 muffler to quiet the LM setup. Check my sig for a link to the exhaust clips

Search my name KIRKEVIL on youtube to hear all the different setups I have gone through with the LM 1. Goodluck, its gonna be loud no matter what you do with the SLP LM catback.

LTb1ow 09-21-2008 02:16 PM

But your starting off with an LS1 so it doesn't sound good anyway...

NJSPEEDER 09-21-2008 07:03 PM

Spend the extra money of good headers, like American Racing Headers or Kooks. Pacesetters and other cheapies have a 50/50 shot at good fitment and even then they are made out of lesser materials and won't last as long.

When you put in headers, it is a good idea to throw in fresh motor mounts too. Every brand of header will be closer to the floor pan and old, soft motor mounts can let them hit the floor.

LTb1ow 09-21-2008 07:16 PM

Mine fit fine, tucked up tight.

NJSPEEDER 09-21-2008 07:21 PM

Like I said, it is a 50/50 shot. I see just as many guys say they fit fine as say they hit the floor or the collectors point off into space somewhere.

LTb1ow 09-21-2008 07:24 PM

This is true, but dropping a grand on Kooks just seems so expensive to me...

sweetbmxrider 09-21-2008 07:47 PM

eh if i had the money, i'd drop it for the peace of mind

And where the hell did the clone car of mine come from??? (cough KirkEvil cough)

LTb1ow 09-21-2008 07:49 PM

Catfishes are everywhere.

LTb1ow 09-21-2008 08:43 PM

And I think he took off the hockey stripes...

ins0mnia24 09-21-2008 09:49 PM

QTP's headers with a Mufflex Y-pipe or let Mufflex build you a custom Y-pipe so that you can gain some ground clearance..

looks the same right down to power mods...and not so elusively striped

deadtrend1 09-22-2008 11:10 AM

its not the fitmit of the pace setters, its the crappy armor coating that i spent the extra money on that is almost gone after 500 miles.

LTb1ow 09-22-2008 02:21 PM

When did you get yours? And what happened? Should I be looking for a new set?

Not the first time I've heard of this, either. Their coating is/can be very short lived.

sweetbmxrider 09-22-2008 03:59 PM

after mine die from daily driving, gunna invest in something nice with jet hot on top. should have done that first.

LTb1ow 09-22-2008 08:39 PM

Anyone wanna buy a set of slightly used Pacesetter LTs....? :-x Whatever, they still look all shiny and thats all that matters.
