Cops
ok I just want to get a general idea of who has what feelings and the general public perception of our police. quick explanation for you OPINION...no "90% of the 50% of the" BS...just your opinion.
Please keep it clean, no insulting, no crap, just your vote and a quick why. I hope most of us are mature enough for that. Personally I like them. In my line of work they are invaluable to my personal safety. I have gotten pulled over by ever cop in my local police force...twice, not that I'm bragging about my car being a target, but considering the attention factor and the amount of times i got out of tickets just by being civil. I can't complain |
Most of the cops I have encountered in the past 5 out of my 6 years of driving have been relatively young and pretty cool. If you show them respect they will return the favor most of the time.
I've managed to talk myself out of A LOT of tickets by just being polite & honest. |
pretty obvious

slo86 don't vote without posting why

My encounters with police have been pleasant, if your getting pulled over its for a reason just admit your wrong suck up your pride and 9 times out of 10 the cop will cut you a break, they are doing just their job

I have gotten out of more tickets and other nonsense by just showing the cop some respect and making him understand that you aren't an *******.
|
I have 3 family members who are LEO's so I vote yes.
|
I voted Yes because I never got a ticket I didnt actually deserve,Then again I also didnt get as bad of a ticket as I should have received.
But I also got out of a whole hell of alot of tickets that I actually deserved too.. Only had trouble with one and that was in Mullica township since having a license and after a phone call to the Atlantic County crime and corruption office and opening a Harassment investigation on him my tickets were dropped.. |
so far it seems the general consensus is benign towards police. seems to be a silent majority type situation.
|
so far both that posted no didn't post why
|
bayonne has a lot of problems with dirty cops. and they are kind of intimidating, even if im not doing something wrong i kinda worry theyll think im "suspicious. So my vote is no and it isnt anything persona about cops =)

As people they may be ok, but when doing their so called JOB, I'm not a fan of most of them.
Ex. 1 17 years old driving down the shore absolutely not driving like a jackass only had a v6 maro at the time. cop pulled me over for spinning my tires onto 35 N which didn't happen. Gave me attitude, and partner gave my friend in passenger seat attitude. They seemed to have a predetermined agenda to SHOW ME WHO WAS BOSS. Ex. 2 Driving home at night in the rain, friend in car, attempting to make a right hand turn before noticing the road was blocked for construction. Unable to stop car and hit car crossing over street in front of me. Cops arrived 20 min later and issue me a ticket for running a red light. Wasn't what happened. GO to court Judge turns back on me and tells stenographer to wake him if he falls asleep. Father there as witness to judges antics. I had no fair trial so add judges to list of not liked people Ex. 3 cell phone law, they will pull you over, but I see them driving on their cell phones all the time. Ex. 4. L.E. plates. I can't tell you how many times I'm driving around and some douche is up my ass and when they pass I see they have L.E. plates. I guess they don't have to obey the law even when off duty. Ex. 5. Brotherhood, they do what ever they want other cops won't ticket them. Laws should be applied evenly across the board. Ex. 6 In college driving with tinted windows grand prix 98 new, get pulled over harassed about why someone from Essex Co. is so far from home. I guess it's bad I'm going to college away from home jealous I guess. Amazingly enough 2 days later same cop pulls me over for same thing. Even more amazing bmws, mercedez, lexus cars with limo tint he didn't pull any of them over and they passed him just before I did. I have only had 1 good experience with a local cop but that was because I had a PBA card and ex. 5 played in my favor. other wise I probably would have been arrested for drag racing. Can't say I have had enough good experiences to respect them for the job they do, but I give them credit when it comes to doing the job they were meant to do like catching real criminals. Drunk drivers, killers, rapists. I think they are more for raising money for the towns then actually keeping us safe. |
you do realize the "L.E." plates are available to anyone through the dmv right?

I believe they are always on their phones because most cops use the Nextel thingy now instead of the radio.. |
Quote:
|
yeah Hamilton pd uses nextel style radios that can receive calls from other officers/the station so they can have private conversations that stay off scanners
and yes bubba its a 50 dollar donation to the families of fallen officers |
Hey I am 100% for the Nextel stuff because most people have scanners in their houses and listen anyways..
|
Well i thought is was like an M.D. plate you could only get one if you were one or family member. so take that off my list then. I still have plenty of reason to distrust / dislike cops.
as for the nextel excuse, I'm not buying it. These guys are laughing and carrying on I don't think it's job related. |
there is a plate through the pba and fop that is member only, but it doesn't say LE on it

voted yes got lots of freinds who are officers, plus without police we would be a VERY corrupt world. ive been screwed over many times NOT doing stupid crap, but like any job u have your good days and bad, then u have bad cops that make good cops look bad. noones perfect!! just my 2 cents...
|
I like them. even though I've had my share of run in's with jerk cops, I know they are just doing their job. I have bad days sometimes too so you cant fault them for that.
