real or fake?
real,
not a true "factory option", possibly converted by dealer(as in dealer sent it to be done) if sold new, but they were made in small numbers. ive seen a few while hunting monte parts to build my ex's SS |
My opinion of "real": If the factory did not cover it under warranty it is not real. Dealers bolt crap on cars all the time. Look at the new caddys with landau (cloth) roofs and opra lights on the pillars. It ain't GM. It voids the rust through warranty. Not real. It's just aftermarket crapola.
I doubt this came under the GM umbrella. |
that car was for sale on craiglist for a while

What are you doing bringing opinions in here that actually make sense???? It's .... wierd....
This thread disappoints.
In terms of being a production model, it is fake. GM did in fact have a pipeline for a few years that produced a handful of Monte Carlo convertables through ASC. The drop tops produced however were not SS models, the option was exclusive to luxary package cars.
i just didnt think it was stock and was curious.
Acording to the first line in the auction it's an 82 monte 'vert that's just been made to look like an 88 SS. So it's very possible that this is one of the ASC converted cars.
A friend of mine had an 82 or 83 'vert. I had heard of them, but it was the first time I had seen one. - Justin |
Tim is right... No SS's came with a convertable or astroroof option.
ive only ever seen one and it was like an 84 LS
