Lowes and Home Depot can order it for you, but it isn't the cheapest. Find a place that does fiberglass work in your area and see where they get their supplies.

I work at Viking Yatchs, and we get Fiberglass by the pallet on rolls, and 55 gal. drums. Im not sure who we go through, but I can look into it

Viking, Egg harbor, Ocean, Silverton, Post,Jersey Cape ect, and all of the other Jersey Boat companies get their Fiberglass Mat and resins through the Mahogany Company.
It would be a good idea to figure out or know what type of mat you use chop mat, Ounce, ect..

if you could find out who you get it from and how much a whole or even half roll would go for that would be great.

ins0mnia24 09-13-2008 10:27 AM

I told ya where they get it from, all fiberglass mat going to any boat company in South Jersey goes through the company I gave you the link for.

Viking allows workers to purchase anything they get or use at the whole sale cost that they pay for it you just go to the Human resource office and Mike or Drew looks up the price and writes you a ticket for it
I worked there for 6 years.

Z28Justin 09-14-2008 03:39 PM

thanks to the almighy crigslist i got half a 55 gal drum of resin and a 3/4 roll of matte real cheap.:w00t:

Cool man
The boat companies use so much resin that it comes in Tanker trucks
The Gel coat comes in 55 gallon drums so that the boat companies can catalog the matched batches and document which haul numbers it was used on in case of a bad batch or warranty repair is needed then they have an exact match for it..
The Mek comes in 1-5 gallon containers.
I could get any of the stuff but I will not put that stuff in my car so you would have to come pick it up.

Yeah Vi-glass was getting the Tanker, I work in R&D so we get it by the drum. I remember last year workign in the new building over by the docks 5-A, they had a boat in there cause the hull's gel coat cracked all over it, so they had to sand the whole thing and start all over!!!
