uploading a video to web, copyright music wtf...

ok well last night i made a little video of all pictures i found from all my parties going back about a year, i added a simple soundtrack, but now because apparently the music is copyrighted, i cant upload it to anywhere on the web. i honestly didnt even know that would be an issue. arent there tones of videos uploaded with music in them? how do they get by with it, what can i do? is there certain music i am allowed to use?

same deal with a cd rip.
i ended up using royalty free music you can get on the web... not nearly as good but better than nothing.
