Parts collections

Anybody else on here have a stockpile of the same part or part(s) that is kinda beyond resonable?

Example: I own 7 alternators. All V-belt. Granted, it's fun to collect the whole set, but what the hell am I going to do with all them?

And before I started building my muffler blues band I had a collection of 16 coil springs.

So who else ended up with too many of a particular part?

i got too much of everything... i have like 20 coolant overflow bottles

LOL. That's the kind of numbers I'm looking for!

LTb1ow 10-07-2008 09:03 PM

Although not exactly like that, every time I work on my car, I end up with parts that don't end up back on, and as a result I have most of the stock 1995 Z28 in my basement, from wheels to exhasut.

mc73nova 10-07-2008 09:04 PM

I go through everything once a year, try to clean out stuff but always come up with a "good" reason to keep it laying around.

deadtrend1 10-07-2008 09:06 PM

I have 2 sets of tan 3rdgen interiors in my attic. One has a Digital Dash to go along with it.

2 sets of tan gta seats, one set of LS1 leathers.

Nothing substantial like you guys though .. lol

me too. I mean, there may be a day when the spare wheel well plastic shrouds I keep may be needed.

or the complete C&C T-Top setup which I don't own a car that uses them and no one needs. Hell, most people probably never heard of them, or don't realize that their car has them.

sweetbmxrider 10-07-2008 09:12 PM

i have parts for my truck and both my camaros. its not too excessive, but i needed a trailer to store them in.

I have a small collection of burnt out mass air sensors that I keep telling myself I'm going to polish the ends and re-sell.

C&C 3rd gen aftermarket T-Top set up FTW! No leaks unlike the factory 3rd gen T-Top set ups

WildBillyT 10-07-2008 09:19 PM

Oh, I'm not talking about overall collections. SmokingSS, ted gerlach, and the guys that part cars out will rule that group. I'm talking a crazy amount of one or two particular parts.

sweetbmxrider 10-07-2008 09:29 PM

i have like at least 15 rims.....if that counts

WildBillyT 10-07-2008 09:32 PM

Yup.

LTb1ow 10-07-2008 09:38 PM

I have a collection of PVC, and fittings that would put home depot to shame in my closet from back of my days building air cannons....

sweetbmxrider 10-07-2008 09:42 PM

my buddy just built one as a bait launcher. its almost finished and should be pretty sweet.

LTb1ow 10-07-2008 09:44 PM

Yea, I stopped when I could launch a lemon at 600fps.

sweetbmxrider 10-07-2008 09:55 PM

ahhahahaha  daym. who wants lemonade? i used to shoot water bottles out of mine and they would be on fire. onions were sweet too.

LTb1ow 10-07-2008 09:57 PM

No where to shoot my big canon so I kinda got into cars.

bad64chevelle 10-07-2008 10:16 PM

Probably about 7 sets of extra wheels, 8 sets of tires up to 35", 5 Center consoles for 64-65 Chevelle W/ Shifters, 10+ Driveshafts for random crap, 5-440 Mopar motors, and all sorts of other crap that we accumulated over the years.

enRo 10-07-2008 10:16 PM

I havent owned a third gen in over 3 years, and i still have roughly 7-10 headlight motors.

91chevywt 10-07-2008 10:23 PM

Windshield Wipers. I'm set for life with windshield wipers. Back when K-mart was about to go out of business, and was emtying out the store selling everything like 60-70% off my dad bought all the windshield wipers for like $.70 a piece. So I have like 20 windshield wipers of various sizes, and thats after using quite a few of them.

Two extra pair of front coil springs for my Jeep and one for the front of a Jeep Cherokee. I don't own, nor have I ever owned, a Cherokee.

SteveR 10-07-2008 10:36 PM

I have four hemi blocks sitting in storage, along with about a dozen carbs of various sizes and designs. I also have about a bazillion Earl's hose fittings too
