Political Agenda in Community College

I'm curious, if anyone knows much about this. I noticed today, on bulletin boards around the school where various flyers are allowed to be posted, that there were flyers promoting voting for Barack Obama. These flyers had "student approved activity" stamped on them. In order to put up flyers, they must have "student approve activity" stamped on them by the college. My question is, is the school allowed to post these type of flyers through the school? I remember one saying "Barack the vote." Is this allowed in a community college? It's cumberland county college by the way.

Political thread? Might be locked.

Universities and colleges are historically have a left wing bias. So it won't surprise me to see that happen.
Or, maybe the Republican Club has yet to get their fliers back from the copy shop yet.

colleges just need to approve flyers so nothing innappropriate gets hung up on bulletin boards. If you want to put up a for sale sign for your car you need to get it approved or they will take it down. As long as they aren't doing anything illegal or obscene then there isn't a problem. If you don't like it make a Republican sign and get it approved and post it all over campus.

Not quite. If this becomes a political discussion then it's history.

Seton Hall is the same way. There's posters saying "Obama - hope" and "Mccain-nope" (that's right, can't even capitalize his name right!). SHU is a private college, but keep in mind the Campus Republicans or Independents or whatevers also have a right to put up posters saying otherwise, be it private or pubic. ;)

Alright thanks, I wasn't sure how it would work. I knew left wing=college but I wasnt sure if it was ok to put up posters telling people how to vote. I havent had any professors push anything on me which is how it should be, so I wasn't sure if it was ok to hang stuff like that up. I think it would only be right to hang up republican flyers even though I'm not really a republican, just so other students know that there is more than one candidate running. Maybe even some T. Boone Pickens and Ralph Nader so everyone knows their options lol

get used to it  Not only will you see flyers, but you'll also have to put up with left wing bias included in professor's lectures as well as various "Campus discussions" that really are no discussions, just BS.
