INDIANAPOLIS 500 PACE CAR
and yeah he is talking about another car that is for 43,000 i thought they only made a limited edition of the pace cars

//<86TA>\\ 10-18-2008 02:33 PM

the add looks like its been fixed, its listed as a pace car, 1500 made, 73rd is probably the running number of the indy500

NJSPEEDER 10-18-2008 03:16 PM

Yes, 1989 was the 73rd running of the Indianapolis 500. There were a little more than 1500 pace car editions sent out to the streets of America, most of which are known to survive still.

They do draw strong prices, 8k is not a crazy starting point to sell one as clean as that appears in the pictures.

Tim, I know a ton about the TTA's...his ad confused the hell out of me...it's horribly worded lol.

He made it sound like the car was the 73rd edition and he was asking $43K for it lol

On Oct-18-08 at 10:34:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Correction: only 1500 of these cars produced ever. Own a piece of race history at a great price.Collector cars are great, but what about a great collector car that has great performance and is affordable. This car commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the Trans Am and also served as the Official Pace Car of the 73rd Indianapolis 500.

I love the uneducated posts on there, but at least this cat updated it with good info.

r0nin89 10-18-2008 09:09 PM

That thing have a grand national setup in it?

Frosty 10-18-2008 09:17 PM

For the most part yes...slight differences in the motor.

His reserve is only $9K. Why oh ****ing why do I have to be unemployed right now?

r0nin89 10-18-2008 09:20 PM

Yeah thats pretty sick. Too bad the tiny 10bolt is a grenade for that motor though.

Frosty 10-18-2008 09:45 PM

They didn't come with 10 bolts.

9 bolt 3.27 rear

It articulates, way better than the later style that the 4th gen got. The whole seat in the 4th gen is the same as the 3rd gen. I dont know why they changed it :-x

They did. One, possibly two cars.

The rest were pace car replicas. So if you want to be a ball buster you can say that this ad is inaccurate if this car wasn't the one actually pacing the race.

imagine if it was. imagine if it ran the race, then was put away in climate controlled storage, but being run regularly to keep oil on all of the seals... so it only had a total of like, 12 miles.

now, THAT would be worth 40k.
