Jeez.....Just more proof that money doesn't buy brains. I would love to see baseball take a page from the NFL's book and start burning these guys foe the way they act.

oh my ****ing god, no one on here has ever driven drunk. once again, if you let children use a 22 year old kid as a roll model, thats your problem. lets post all the stories of the actors overdosing and inventing crazy religions. because they are entertainers just like athletes

NJSPEEDER 10-20-2008 10:43 AM

Tom Cruise didn't invent his crazy religion, L. Ron Hubbard did.........10 years after he died. lol

Nope and never plan on it.

Mike, does someone else making the same stupid decision/mistake make it any better than someone in the spotlight did it? Is it magically less illegal because it happens regularly?

its just as bad for everyone, but just because someone makes money and is on tv dosent make them a roll model. thats the problem i had with this

favre - substance abuse problems

the cowboys of the late 80s early 90s ------had a house just for it

i mean come on, if you dont know by now that these people arent roll models, its your problem, not theirs

But will a 9,10,11 or 12yr old know that they shouldn't be looking up to these people?

NJSPEEDER 10-20-2008 11:56 AM

So everyone should just let it all slide because they are rich and famous instead of holding them accountable?

I would love to see all drunk drivers and drug addicts dealt with. Seeing professional athletes lose the privilege of playing the games they love should be a part of that. If a DUI can cost someone their license and their job in the real world, it should in the baseball world too.

thats the parents job to raise their child and not just park them in front of a tv and hand them a remote. just because someone gets paid a lot to play a kids game, dosent mean they are a good person

Tim, in real life they have special situations for people with minor or DUI offenses where they can serve their time without losing their jobs, be it community service or serving their time on weekends or paying heavy fines.

these players usually end up with something like that where they pay fines or donate time to education.

just because they make more money a fine structure written in stone should be modified just for them?

I completely agree however not every child has good parents. Also, like it or not a lot of society glorifies athletes. Right or wrong they do. Like it or not players have the responsibility to live up to certain standards, like it or not they ARE viewed as role models.

Everyone makes mistakes, maybe the situation with this guy is an isolated incident but dip****s like Pacman Jones should be crucified.
