But not a clue where to stick it.

Any ideas?

Why not where it belongs on the front of the cylinder head?

LTb1ow 10-19-2008 08:35 PM

Its not a stock, and inheirantly won't tango with the ICM.

deadtrend1 10-19-2008 08:44 PM

Why go to a different coil? Why not just keep the stock one?

sweetbmxrider 10-19-2008 08:45 PM

throw the battery in the back and mount it up nicely over there with your msd box. that or somewhere off the driver fender. whats wrong with on the intake?

LTb1ow 10-19-2008 08:45 PM

It came with the MSD box, and I think the stock coil is on its way out. Kinda falls apart at higher rpms, and its not the opti.

sweetbmxrider 10-19-2008 08:49 PM

relocate the alternator to where the ac compressor would be and mount it right there!

LTb1ow 10-19-2008 08:49 PM

No way! I need my AC compressor for looks!

Pampered-Z 10-20-2008 08:30 AM

There are a few unused bolt holes in the block below the head. You could either build a bracket for the ICM or the coil and mount it down there.

Might want to also add another ground strap to the bolt on the coil to the ICM mount too.

napa has an a/c bypass pulley for 40 bucks, plastic pulley though  i'll let you know how it fits

LTb1ow 10-20-2008 02:49 PM

Well maybe I will do the battery relo and stick it there. Who knows.

sweetbmxrider 10-20-2008 09:06 PM

i would recommend a vented battery too, don't want you driving all silly now. i would have done it already but i don't feel like running wires and don't want to rig it. thats next after the opti

LTb1ow 10-20-2008 09:15 PM

I can get a huge ass 31 and stick it back there.... hmmmm. And do your damn opti. Its fun. I swear.

sweetbmxrider 10-20-2008 09:26 PM

its a slow work week. maybe tomorrow? nah, i won't make fridays

LTb1ow 10-20-2008 09:31 PM

I am sure Al would understand....

Pampered-Z 10-21-2008 10:49 AM

Just remember that if you relocate the batt. and you plan to take the car to the track, then you'll need to make it NHRA compliant.

NHRA cert. batt box, car shutoff switch, proper grounds etc. Allot of money and effort just to mount a coil. Plus I'd perfer the coil close to the dist. so the coil wire is short and delivering a nice hot spark with less change of arcing.

LTb1ow 10-21-2008 11:15 AM

This whole car is a lot of money to accomplish something trivial but thats the fun of it. And I don't drag race, nor do I intend to. And this weekends project is trying to get the ICM and this coil to play nice by the head. We shall see.
