'tis truly a sad day

for my poor, poor saturn :|

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...aturntowed.jpg

driving to work this morning, i look in the mirror....smoke everywhere. stop and open the door, smell trans fluid...luckily i was almost at work so i got it there, trail of trans fluid in my path. lost about 2 quarts over about 2 miles of driving

couldnt tell where it was coming from besides that its an internal problem (not a cooler line or something) so...to the trans shop it went. if it needs more than like $500 worth of work im just gonna ****can it i think

LTb1ow 10-20-2008 02:55 PM

Thats what you get for putting so many damn stickers on it.

GP99GT 10-20-2008 02:56 PM

all that extra horsepower tore the trans apart

LTb1ow 10-20-2008 02:57 PM

I figured you would say that. So does this mean the stang is DD now?

BonzoHansen 10-20-2008 02:58 PM

karma from those stupid links!

GP99GT 10-20-2008 03:01 PM

for now, yes im DDing the stang....but alas foxbody mustangs are not good in snow soooo...i gotta get something before winter

LTb1ow 10-20-2008 03:02 PM

LTb1ow 10-20-2008 03:08 PM

Steal his tranny then!

GP99GT 10-20-2008 03:12 PM

i think his is a 5 speed

NastyEllEssWon 10-20-2008 04:17 PM

it killed itself

cdacda13 10-20-2008 04:42 PM

That sucks Matt. Hopefully it ain't anything major.

Next, build the drivetrain before you add all that horse power.

badzracing 10-20-2008 05:25 PM

find out what tranny it is....i may have one or can get you one fairly reasonably priced.

its whatever trans a 95 saturn SC2 has...i believe theyre the same from 93-97 or something

WayFast84 10-20-2008 05:31 PM

You had a transmission, but your diff pin ate it.

go to sixthsphere

they have a lot of info and Im pretty sure you could get everything for a 5spd swap for under $500 so If you want to stick with auto, a new(used) trans will probably be pretty cheap.

GP99GT 10-20-2008 05:32 PM

yep thats what im thinking, the pin went bye bye...it made some funky noises before it started leaking too

badzracing 10-20-2008 05:48 PM

I just had to replace the tranny in my GF's saturn...paid $250 for it. I don't know if they are the same, though. Her's is called an MP7, specifically for the twin-cam cars, 95-02 are the same ( in her car's case...2002 sl2)

GP99GT 10-20-2008 06:05 PM

yeah mines a twin cam, the SOHC ones are different

and i thought about a manual swap...

badzracing 10-20-2008 06:28 PM

Is the transmission oil pan on top of the transmission? That's how MP7's are. They apparently are know for being junk. The valve-body is usually the culprit ( although, that doesn't explain spewing fluid). If you determine that it is indeed the VB, let me know. I have an extra one with all the "fixes" done to it. Wholesale on them is $230...i'll make you a much better deal.

GP99GT 10-20-2008 06:32 PM

the valve body is on top, yes...but i already put one in around January of this year. im pretty sure its the diff pin, probably shot out and cracked the case.

WayFast84 10-20-2008 06:36 PM

If you do get a new trans or what ever have the diff pin welded..

I honestly want to have mine welded. I know for a fact that's going to be my biggest problem with my car after it passes inspection..

Oh, well...sorry. I can still probably help you out with a "new"/used from a junkyard one if you need.

GP99GT 10-20-2008 07:19 PM

well its at my buddys trans shop now, hes gonna see whats actually wrong with it, and go from there

Iroc-z86 10-20-2008 07:25 PM

you would know without a doubt if it was the diff pin...my buddy had it happen to his, he was cruising doin about 35, not beating on it not driving like a jerk or anything then all of a sudden BOOM and there was nothing but smoke and he couldnt accel anymore, the engine was still running but the car wasnt going anywhere lol it actually put a huge hole in the side of the casing (almost took the entire diff with it). he got fed up and put a 5spd in its place.
