Micheal Waltrip hits 1,000 starts

... but he's only had 4 career wins. Ouch.

Field filler.

NJSPEEDER 10-23-2008 08:42 AM

Of course he will start, NASCAR locks who is in and out of the field after the first few races. Unless they change the rule he can get another 1000 as long as he can finish mid pack enough times to stay in the top 35 in owners points.

One more reason to cheer for Bowyer.

The best one I ever heard was years ago. It was Jeff Gordon's rookie to second season. I was listening to the radio call on my way back to Baltimore for college. Gordon was running well and Waltrip came out of the pits and creamed Gordon. After leaving the care center, Dr Jerry Punch catches up with Gordon, when asked what happened Gordon replied," Michael Waltrip comes out of the pits however many laps down he usually is and doesn't know that a car on fresh tires is faster than one on old tires and he ran me over."

My dad almost crashed the car we were laughing so hard. I saw the replay later, I would consider Gordon's description of the wreck pretty accurate.

Nascar locks the top 35 in owners points into the race....waltrip often has trouble staying in the top 35 though. He's in 29th now, and he started all 32 races this year - Mark Martin is ahead of him in 28th, and he's only started 21 races :)

Great guy, good image for the sport, terrible terrible racer. And even with DEI he was garbage.

NJSPEEDER 10-24-2008 06:02 AM

A babbling retard that can't drive is a good image for the sport? Jeez, what does it take to be a bad image for NASCAR?

I have more respect for cry baby Tony Stewart, because he is a dick, but at least he can drive.

I meant off the track. Waltrip is a pretty good guy and all.. does nascar really have anyone who gives them that bad of an image?

Not really. Every now and then there is some type of deal (Kurt Busch's 2005 fiasco) but they know they will lose their ride if they act like jackasses off the track.
