Rolex 24 at Daytona

I am planning my January trip to Florida for the Rolex24. Anyone else interested in going?

For those that haven't been before, it is a heck of a good time. Weekend pass with garage access is only $90, valid Thursday through Sunday. There are also more pricey passes that get you out on the track for a few touring laps in your car, they don't let you go all out, but it isn't a 35mph crawl either. :drive:

There is a lot of racing throughout the weekend. Koni Challenge, which will feature the new Camaro, included :)

We also usually stay directly across the street from the speedway, literally about a 2 block walk, at the Ramada in. So getting back to the room for dry cloths(it rained last year) or leaving to grab a bite is easy.

Tickets range from 90bucks to a bit over $500, depending on what you wanna do. It is the weekend of Thursday, January 22nd through Sunday, January 25th.

I am going to be ordering Friday, so if you want in, let me know. I am looking at the Milestones tickets that get the two touring laps of the track. I will have to post up the video of last year, my brother playing the roll of camera man.

It is a good time and we got to hang out in the Daytona 500 club playing the world's most advanced racing simulator and hanging with some of the pro's.

Overall, I would say the Rolex24 is a fairly cheap way to go on vacation. I don't even think I spent $1k last year including tickets, gas, hotel, food(drinks ), and souvoneirs. Not a bad deal for 4 days of racing. The drive is a piece of cake too, as long as you have cruise control, straight down I95 the whole way.

Daytona Beach... pass. :lol:I hated the times when all the red necks came there for Daytona500.

Layed off at the moment, and waiting to see if Rolex wants to bring my work there for the event, they keep thinking about it since our tents sucha big hit at the historics. maybe next year.

That sounds pretty badass. I'm not sure of my schedule though so I can't give a definite answer just yet.

The tickets are all "general admission" in nature, so it really doesn't matter when you get them if you decide to go. Just a matter of if the special tickets will still be available.

I know I am definitely getting the Milestones tickets again, the touring laps are just too cool to turn down :)

When would you leave and return? How much are the tickets you are talking about? I have 5 days this year that I can use until march next year

NJSPEEDER 10-27-2008 01:30 PM

I would drive down the Wednesday the 21st and come home Monday the 26th. The Milestones tickets are $185 + TikcetBastard fees, so a bit over $200 delivered.

The basic tickets are only $90 for the 4 day all access pass.
