tuning in nj

I was thinking about doing a smaller pulley and injectors on my cobalt. does anybody know of a reliable tuner in the western part of nj or north eastern part of pa? i'm looking for someone who can tune, or just someone to load a base map with hptuners till i can get a full tune. thanks.

Put a post up on CobaltSS.net A friend of mine is on there. He's gotten some pretty good advice from most of the people there.

Talk to TTP or SSP. I am pretty sure they both use HPTuners software, so they have access to tuning solutions for everything late model and GM. Click on the links over there >>>>>>

I have been looking into this stuff for a while because I am looking for a 05-07 SS
The stage 2 and 3 kits come with a reprogrammed pcm
And the stage 3 pcm allows you to adjust the rev limiter from 6700-8000 rpms along with a Nitrous setting for a 50 shot and 94 & 100 octane settings..

Yeah pretty much any shop that uses HP Tuners CAN theoretically tune your vehicle, whether they'd actually want to is another story as the parameters will be slightly different from what they are probably used to they very well may charge a premium for your application since it would probably take more R&D work from scratch.

don't waste your time with the gm kits. over priced for what you get. thats why i'm trying to find someone who can dyno tune it at best. If not I will just go with a canned tune and some cooling mods.

I don't know anyone personally but there are a bunch of guys on Friday night @ Island Dragway with some quick Cobalts. One guy actually has a Cavalier with a turbo, he makes some good passes, maybe look for him for some info.

Yeh I am aware of that but the car would mainly be driven by my g/f and I want something that can be done and not take time away from my own projects..
The only place that I know of that tunes SS Cobalts in Jersey is Tune Time Performance in Toms River but I havent actually talked to anyone that has been tuned there or has dealt with them..
I have only talked to one Cobalt SS owner at the track and he was using the Gm kit stuff with a Smooth flow pulley or something like that along with a cut-out and he was finsihing the 1/4 at 100+mph
which was part of the reason why we are most likely going to get one..

you should check out cobaltss.net a few companies make better kits that are cheaper. that was my only point. you can get a 2.8, 60s, spark plugs, belt and a canned tuned for 450 from one company. that what I was thinking about getting for myself.

foff667 10-28-2008 02:25 PM

Yeah, I never really got into tuning cobalts when I was tuning even though I had a couple of requests. Like I stated the R&D on the first one would've just taken too long for me to consider it. Especially all boosted applications, go lean while testing & you could break some hard parts. Call me a big scardy cat I suppose
