bought
purchased also
my bad, the other one was for 1TB, this one's just 1/2 TB... but this is a helluva steal for $50.
Checked some comments before I got one....too many saying not to get recert'd HDD's. Especially Seagates.
One guy found some on ebay NEW for $60. YMMV....hope no one loses anything.... |
someone said 65 on newegg w/ 5 year warranty. I'll wait.
Yea, even at only $50, I'll pass on any sort of "used" hard drive. They are so inexpensive that it's not worth cheaping out when buying one.

bought one. and a case from amazon. woot!
To those that bought them....make sure you keep backups ;)
And Knipps - Newegg doesn't have that exact drive, but they do have another 500GB / 32mb buffer / SATA 3.0Gb/s for 69.99 and free shipping with a 5yr warranty from Seagate (far better than the 180 day warranty of the refurb on woot) - Justin |

tiger direct has new 1.5TB drives for $150... it's funny how all of a sudden everyone is pushing disk drives.
how long does woot usually take to ship?
i dunno but i didnt get mine yet either
just got a tracking number. i never had an external so i'm excited to get to download movies and back up my docs and such :)

thankfully, i have an off-site backup. ;) but it is still a pain to download all over again. |
i got mine today, shipped from texas, thats why it took a while i guess
woot usually ships 5-7 business days after the day the item is on sale. Sometimes a little longer, sometimes a little shorter. I ordered a digicam for my sister on 11/3 (day after the HDD) and I'll have it tomorrow.

computers have become so reliable that people don't even think that the hard drive can and will go bad. i started out with a dual floppy IBM-pc, so i know all about catastrophic failures and the blue screen of death. and i watched it progress from having to load all of the data via floppy to having dual density floppies (5.25"), then to having a 10MB hdd (yay! you have mail! yay!) with a 5.25" drive and a 3.5" drive... until today where i have unknown number of games and videos and photos and songs and... you get the idea.
it sure has come a long way, but it is still far from infallible. |
I give up. How do I get this thing to work? I installed it into the box and plugged it in but its not showing up on my computer. The computer is reading it cause its on the disk drive list in the device manager but I can't open it up unless I can get it to show up on my computer.
You have to format it....
- Justin |
according to google i need to plug it into a motherboard to do that. thats tough though cause i have a laptop. i guess it will have to wait till i get home this weekend
If you can access it from your laptop you can format it from your laptop
the drive should have come with a disk
