partner wanted for road race series @ E-town

im posting this in the lounge because i want people to actually READ it, since no one ever looks at the road race section.

e-town's road course director is putting on a road racing series next year, called the 'winter survival series'; taking cues from the 24hrs of lemons. $500 cars, minimal prep, wheel-to-wheel racing on a road course. im looking for a partner to invest time and money into campaigning next year. i have a car: 86 Z28, 305 TPI auto, with work already started on it.

the first race is slotted for Jan. 24, saturday. 2hr race, with pit stops, pit crew, etc. if all goes well, theyre going to have a race once a month, every month, all of 2009. a good possibility of longer endurance races if there is enough participation: 4, 6, 12hr enduros. cash payouts for top 4 finishers, with a grand prize for the season winners.

im very serious and dedicated to making this happen, and id like someone who is the same. experience in road racing and 3rd gens a plus, but not mandatory. this wont be dirt cheap, but it certainly wont break your bank. this will be the cheapest, easiest, and fastest way to get into actual wheel-to-wheel racing without worrying about damaging your own car. im looking for an equal partner or two in the race team, splitting costs down the middle. i already have detailed reciepts of everything ive bought so far.

im located in Wallington NJ, zip 07057. local to me is also a plus, obviously. all races will be held in englishtown.

if anyone is seriously interested, PM me for further details, copy of the rules & requirements, etc. this should be alot of fun, with a very no pressure atmosphere and good racing.

That sounds awesome, if I had more knowledge of road racing and a steady income I would love to try it. Good Luck finding someone. Keep us posted.

I would def be down for it, but I'm planning on turning my formy into a road race car myself and hopefully be running some HPDE events next year so I can start racing in the NASA NE. Idk, get back at me at the end of next month or the start of January.

yo dude - where are the rules posted?

Demonicbird00 11-16-2008 10:11 PM

what else needs to be done to the car?? do you think that we could get a stick in the car instead of an auto?

im very interested.... if all goes well hopefully it doesnt have the same dates as my karting schedule....

short resume....
karting for 15yrs
skip barber racing school and formula dodge series
avid skills in autox as well

It is a cost limited series, receipts and all. To convert the car would cost more than the letter of the rules allows.

At the end of the race is a $500 claimer. Don't wanna sink tons of money into the car just to have it claimed.

ive been thinking of swapping. they wont know whether it was an original stick or not. or, could do one or two races, then say 'the trans blew, had to replace it' and show up with a stick.

So let me get this strait. You have $500 to spend on engine/trans/driveshaft/rear and rolling chassis?

I have never looked into this kind of racing before so don't rip into me, I am just curious.

Basically you buy a cheap-o car for $500, you are allowed to spend as much as you want on safety (which also includes suspension, brakes, wheels, & tires), and then you go race.

I just had to read it again, that is amazing. I think I will have to look into this further. Anyone have a schedule for this series?

EchoMirage 11-17-2008 06:48 PM

suspension DOES count into the price of the car. otherwise everyone would through 1K koni/strano setup on an f-body and win every race. the only things that dont count are specifically: saftey (ie: cage, suits, fire supression, kill switch), tires (no r-compounds, treadware 190 min), brakes (anything goes). i dont think you can get away with wheels. as in: buying 17x11s would bust your budget and technically be illegal.

motor/trans are supposed to be stock, other then freshening, tune up, fluids, etc.

no schedule as of yet, other then the first race is Jan 24, saturday, with the first discounted practice about a week before. with enough participation, hes going to run once a month, every month, all of 09.

if you or anyone is interested, PM me and ill give further details. ive almost got my own team together. if anyone is interested in starting their own effort, again PM me for further details as far as registrations fees, requirements, etc.

i suppose ill annouce the official creation of Alcohaulin' Ass Motorsports. within the span of 3hrs we've got 4 drivers set for the series. myself, patrick (supermanx24), brandon (demonicbird00), and tim (njspeeder).

mc73nova 11-17-2008 10:10 PM

congrats and good luck. hopefully you will see us there.

Njgunslinger 02-16-2009 02:52 PM

So whatever happened to this? no updates?

Anti_Rice_Guy 02-16-2009 03:02 PM

Pretty sure Mc73nova's team never started, and Rob (echomirage) is running solo now

mc73nova 02-16-2009 03:55 PM

Unfortunately, when it came down to it, my "team" was unreachable and I didnt have the money to do it alone. I guess it worked out in a way because I have my hands full(pockets empty) with bracket racing. My car is perfect, just add fuel but gas in the tow rig, entry fees, food, buy backs!, it all adds up and at this point two different racing schedules in one season would be nearly impossible.

EchoMirage 02-16-2009 04:58 PM

check the thread in the racers lounge titled "how did this weekend at etown go" for my updates.

sab123 06-01-2009 09:14 PM

Were there any updates since then? Looks like that weekend didn't go too well :-(
