yankees say **** the economy

on the first 2 days where teams are allowed to make offers to players and other teams, the yankees trade for nick swisher (may fix the first base woes)

and offer c.c. the largest multi-year contract ever for a pitcher, 6 years at 140+million dollars

maybe they could buy gm?

Hopefully these moves work better than the past. They keep spending money like its water and keep getting worse. It is pathetic, the Yankees should be contenders for the World Series every year with the moves they make and money they spend.

At the end of the end it's all business; you have to spend money to make money.

They would regret either of those decisions.

Tell that to all the smaller dollar clubs that have been to the World Series over the past few years.

ie: Marlins and Rays

Spending money to make money is usually the norm but apparently the Yankees need to do more than that. After their worst year in a very long time.

Yes, they obviously have to do more. But in the large scheme of things, baseball today is just a business and about making money. Why did the Yankees build a new stadium? For the money. They could have gotten another 20 years out of the old stadium, but they wanted more luxury boxes. If they get C.C. (which I don't think is a good move) it's twofold: yeah, it looks like they are trying to win, but it's also a move to put more butts in the seats.

Didn't CC say he wasn't going to play in NY?

The Yanks spend money to make money, hopefully it nets a world series. But if it doesn't, all those stars put butts in the seats and keep the merchandise moving off the shelves.

Hope the yanks have a good season next year...
