Laptop Problems

Ok, just fired up the laptop, and now im getting all these errors messages out of the right hand corner saying that i have a bunch of corrupt .exe files. I went to use the check disk application, and it says I cant use it cause Im using it....wtf does that mean?
I gotta drop this off at some computer shop. I have a growing list of problems with this computer. It wont download the new Flash 9 program as everytime I do it it says Im not connected to the internet. Ugh..not even one year!

Sounds like spyware. Are they little pop ups from the task bar down by the clock?

BigAls87Z28 11-24-2008 08:29 AM

Yeah. Keeps saying "Aim6.(whatever)exe unreadable, check disk" or some other .exe file is unreadable. Keeps popping up every few mins.

That doesn't mean it isn't. It may very well not be but some stuff infects regular system .dll's that spybot/adaware won't detect.

If you can grab a screenshot that would be helpful.

allllllright, well ran spybot, but something is up with that. Dunno wtf thats about. So I ran some other antispyware I have, and that found a bunch of stuff. So I cleaned that out, restarted the computer.
Restarted it, and then vista put up this pre-start up program, it fixed some disk problems I guess, and now everything seems to be ok.

I would agree. Spybot, while a great free tool, isnt the end all to spyware find/fix. It is a FREE program written by some people on their own time. They do not have the funding to do it full time and do not have megga bucks to throw at it. Get a REAL anti spyware program, and I dont mean Ad-aware. I think Spysweeper is a great tool and reasonable at $30 per year. IMO it is so effective that I dont even run an anti-virus program on my surfing computer.

Geez, Vista sucks but going back to XP isnt the answer. I see a lot of people do this and a lot doesnt work afterwards.
