yeah so the guy said he heard it making a lot of noise but continued to drive anyways, for a longggg timeeee! well it eventually stopped making noise because the rotors broke in two after the calipers froze and wore out the braking surface! effing amazing!!!!:shock::shock: jeeeeeeez

LTb1ow 11-24-2008 03:37 PM

Who need brakes anyways?

sweetbmxrider 11-24-2008 03:45 PM

well bubba didn't  and apparently this guy! his rears are wiped too along with tires. this had to get done first though!

WildBillyT 11-24-2008 03:45 PM

I'm just stunned that the brakes kept on working after losing that much material. Maybe the rear brakes took most of it over.

pound 11-24-2008 03:52 PM

WTF dude how did that guy even stop the car driving around like that? Were those the fronts or rears?

sweetbmxrider 11-24-2008 03:53 PM

yeah they are metal on metal in the rear. it is amazing though!

pound, fronts 8-)

GP99GT 11-24-2008 03:55 PM

what
the
****.

pound 11-24-2008 03:57 PM

wow did it wear totally through the pads and start grinding on the calipers too?

sweetbmxrider 11-24-2008 03:59 PM

surprisingly, pads still had the metal backing.....

EchoMirage 11-24-2008 04:12 PM

ive seen it before. someone did nearly the same with a late 80s full size dodge SUV

Frosty 11-24-2008 04:21 PM

Wow...

//<86TA>\\ 11-24-2008 04:23 PM

thats amazing:shock:

Teds89IROC 11-24-2008 04:24 PM

brakes are overrated lol unbelievable

NJSPEEDER 11-24-2008 04:29 PM

That is a little scary. I bet the guy is pissed his bill is so high too even though some simple maintenance would have made all parts involved last longer and would have cost less.

 some people amaze me

Featherburner 11-24-2008 04:33 PM

Just bend the indicators back so they don't squeal.

Ktulu990 11-24-2008 04:37 PM

CRAZY!!!

crazyblazer87 11-24-2008 04:41 PM

I've seen that on a 2000 chevy pick up before. He said he heard a loud noise then his brakes didn't work so well.

GP99GT 11-24-2008 04:44 PM

put those rotors on a lathe, theyll be fine

sweetbmxrider 11-24-2008 04:49 PM

exactly. turn them into rear rotors. single face, no cooling fins. $$

BigAls87Z28 11-24-2008 04:49 PM

Been there a few times, and sued the first time. Guy's daughter said we took advantage of an old black man. Gave him back his 2 grand. We ended replacing everything that wasnt the lines, and he got it all for free because he came in for a battery.

sweetbmxrider 11-24-2008 04:54 PM

ouch, we called and got approval....

funny thing you say that cause my buddy had a front rotor like that on his sunbird. he wore right past the fins!!! they were practically gone!! The calipers were obviously toast especially when the piston was rubbing on the rotor and half of the brakepad backing was left jammed on the caliper. He said he noticed a slight noise so he had me check them out...yeah how slight was the noise and for how long. lol I should have kept the rotor and the other pieces and weld up a trophy with them for him to keep.

And that's why people think American made cars don't last compared to imports! The owners are too cheap for basic maintenance and run the vehicles into the ground for no reason. Meanwhile, the import owner gladly pays out the @ss for routine maintenance even if they don't need it. I would love to see that Jeep try to go through inspection.

So did we. Hell the guy was there and saw the destruction. We had the same thing, only on all 4 (rear rotors had a thickness of 1/8 of an inch). It was for a mid 90's Town Car. Airbags were blown out too, but that was the least of his worries.
2-piece rotors, the brake pistions came out of the caliper, and the master had a small puddle still.
He left after we replaced 4 rotors, calipers, pads, new fluid, master and booster as well as 2 hoses in the front. He also got a battery and an alt.
About a week later, his daughter came back yelling at us. We even showed her pictures that we took just cause we thought it was funny. She said she didnt care, that we forced him into buying it and that we ripped him off.
