Ricer as in you mean the buyer yes, these cars are not ricer mobiles. Unlike Civics and other front wheel drive imports, these were rwd, IRS, some sported an LSD, it had a strong 4AGE motor in them, they are decent cars if done right, but you are correct in the sense that a Fast and Furious junkie would go nuts for something like this and expect to run 10's with an exhaust and rimzzz. i would personally love to have one, especially hatchback, but 12K, forget it, im sure theres one out there for a couple grand that needs some TLC

NJSPEEDER 11-29-2008 08:42 PM

Ricer as in 99% of them end up beaten to death with wheels painted chrome and a bling wing. As for the engine, maybe it is powerful with work put into it. I remember them being pretty new when I was a kid, slow is the nice way to put it.

Thats funny, my buddy bought a brand new one back in the day and he didn't pay as much. The best thing I remember were the factory seats which were hot and in demand back then as many got stolen just for the seats.

In stock trim oh my yes, but take a 4AGZE out of a MR2 supercharged, and they can get it, or even better, get a 20Valve black or silver top, and they are neat cars, dont expect to make any land speed records, but they can scoot if built right, and they can scream to some nice numbers too, as high as 11,000RPM ( of course in full race trim used in the Toyota Atlantic cars lol.)

You know whats funny, I talked to a guy who had a friend that owned an RX7, like an 87 or 90, and he decided he didnt want to make mpayments on it, so they rolled into Newark, parked under a bridge, took the seats, left the car running, and saw some guys in a van not far away and said, have fun.....Im suprise the seats are a big deal for those cars.

foff667 11-29-2008 09:19 PM

That price is insane.

Actually those guys prefer using early 80's Corolla's, Mazda's, and Honda 600's for their small size when putting in a Rotary, I would personally feel its blastphomy if putting in an AE86.
